I wonder whether you've considered how risky your conversations about risk management are? We can have all the processes and procedures we like to manage risk, however if we fail to create and hold the space for the conversations regarding risk that really matter, then we are just paving the way for disaster. Specifically, if we are too busy on the short-term, tangible targets to pause and connect, risk remains hidden - until the day it surfaces to surprise everyone (although actually, in the end, people are rarely surprised are they?) Here's my latest article with John Higgins on this issue. It links our research on speaking up with our current focus on how we create space for conversations in pathologically busy, instrumental workplaces. We'd appreciate your thoughts!
