The role of an independent trustee in an #employeeowned business is similar to that of a #nonexecutivedirector ... sharing knowledge, supporting development, oversight of strategy and operations, holding the executive team to account. But the trust company to which you're appointed as a #director is a #shareholder in the company with direct alignment to business success and #employees as beneficiaries and indirect #owners. Are you interested to find out more? Check out this Employee Ownership Association course specifically focused on the role
Do you want to understand more about the role of the independent #trustee for #employeeowned businesses. Are you already appointed as an independent trustee, but want to enhance your knowledge? Maybe you're thinking about your future opportunities in giving something back at a senior level? Do you have relevant experience that could be beneficial to fellow trustees, and the employee owned companies in which they're the shareholder? If so, check out the Employee Ownership Association course on developing best practice independent trustee skills. The next virtual course is being run later this month. This week's spotlight features Kristen Foster! Thank you Kristen, for agreeing to this opportunity so we can get to know CSH'ers a little bit better. 🤗 Q: What is your job title? A: Benefit Plan Manager Q: What is your office location? A: Columbus, OH Q: When did you join CSH? A: September 2013 Q: How did you first hear about CSH? A: I initially heard about CSH when I was in college through a family member. I set up a meeting to get career advice from a Shareholder and the rest is history! Q: What does a typical day look like? A: My day always starts with a large mug of coffee, followed by email catch-up and then managing audit fieldwork (my focus area is retirement/benefit plans) and client communications, with detail review throughout. I think most everyone on my team knows this, but I go on a daily walk late morning to get some fresh air and a clear start for my afternoon. Oh, and my cat, Fluffy, shares my office with me! Q: Where did you go to school, and what did you study? A: I attended Otterbein University in Westerville, OH and studied accounting. Q: Which of CSH’s REAL Values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Leadership) do you value most? A: Excellence! My goal is to ensure every client I interact with has an outstanding experience from start to finish, and that we've provided them with timely solutions and forward-thinking guidance. Q: What do you like to do outside of work? A: Outside of work I love staying fit (Pilates is my current favorite), traveling, trying new restaurants/cocktail bars around Columbus, and spending time with friends and family! Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A: I always wanted to be an interior designer. It's still a passion of mine, but currently my house is my only client! Q: If you had a personal motto, what would it be? A: I can't take credit for this, but failing to plan is planning to fail. I am a planner in both my professional and personal life, so this quote really resonates with me! Q: What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, or podcast? A: I love any type of coffee table book with photos of places I have traveled. I have one sitting out now from Nantucket, and it brings me so much joy when I flip through the photos and remember what a terrific time I had on the island! #EmployeeAppreciation #CSHSpotlight #TheCSHWay
