When in the course of human events, we want to bring out the good in others, our community, our state, our nation and our world, yet we see things going badly and likely to get worse, with no champion in sight. There is only one thing to do for people of courage and conviction, who trust in God and hope for the future. That thing is to step up and become the champion yourself. With that said, I've decided to put my years of preparation into service. Rather than have another election with only one candidate on the ballot, I'm putting my hat in the ring for U.S. Congress for Texas District 26. Early voting starts February 20, 2024 Primary Election Day is March 5, 2024 Until then we will be working to get the word out to the voters of TX-26 that they now have a Better Choice. 📢 We must make sure the next Prime Minister and Chancellor do more to make childhoods a national priority. 📢 The UK could be the best place in the world to grow up. But right now there are more babies going without health visitors. More children growing up in poverty. And more young people waiting months on a mental health waiting list. Soon there will be a General Election. The first in five years. Action for Children has joined forces with Barnardo’s, NCB, NSPCC, and The Children’s Society to launch the #ChildrenAtTheTable campaign. Ahead of the general election, we must make sure the next Prime Minister does more to make good childhoods a national priority. Inventors & Designers spend their lives identifying ‘Needs & Trends’ …. In the for-profit sector it’s called ‘market-making’. Whereas , in the non-profit industry there is a chance to leverage insights AHEAD of the ‘problems’ that they usually are called upon to ‘clean up’ . A million dollars properly leveraged can have a greater impact in the non-profit sector than the in the for-profit one . For-Profit efforts focus narrowly on return-on-investments ; Non-Profits can excel at demonstrable return-on-ideas where the former would fail ….. to scale creative solutions to identifiable trends.

The challenges facing children have grown enormously in recent years. Life is just too hard for too many children. There are too many children whose childhoods and wellbeing are affected by poverty, who are struggling with their mental health, and who are not getting the right support when they need it. The work we do daily to support teenagers gives us firsthand experience of how hard life is for some teenagers and families with teenagers. Our Children at the Table campaign wants to ensure the next government has a plan to make decisions for babies, children and young people so children are at centre of their policies. With local authorities’ children’s services predicting an expected £4 billion funding shortfall, there has never been a better time to put vulnerable children first. I’m proud The Children's Society is standing together with our friends Action for Children NSPCC National Children's Bureau and Barnardo's to form The Children’s Charities Coalition. We are proud to have 200 other charities stand with us too. We are calling the leaders of all parties to commit to making children happier, healthier and safer. We want to see an ambitious and collaborative cross-government strategy underpinned with an outcomes framework for happier, healthier and safer childhoods. The experiences and voices of children must be at the heart of decision making and, crucially, a greater share of our national wealth needs to be invested in services for children. We cannot continue firefighting one crisis after another. We need to start investing in prevention and early intervention to make sure babies, children, teenagers and young people are happy, healthy and safe today, and feel confident about their future. What can a recurring monthly donation do for R.O.S.E. and the older adults we serve? The answer is that it allows R.O.S.E. to take a calculated long-term approach in producing preventative measures across various mediums to ensure the older adult communities are made aware of the many resources we have to provide for their education against potential frauds and scams. Just like software updates and new and improved hardware are continually released, fraudsters and scammers also update their strategies and tactics to workaround new protections put in place. That's why we provide ongoing support for the older adult community to keep them in the loop on the latest threats to their wellbeing. Consider making a recurring monthly donation so that we can serve the at-risk population in the most efficient way possible!

Not sure this is the solution to reducing health care costs. Maybe we should let the State of DE replace local school boards as well. Not a good strategy. How do other states reduce health care costs? There is no debate that costs are increasing. What do we do about it?

Civic engagement is the formal and informal actions that we and our communities take to identify and address problems and shapes our opportunities to be healthy. By taking actions to get more civically engaged, like voting, we exercise our right to make decisions about our communities, like whether our neighborhoods have walkable sidewalks and how much funding goes to nonprofit organizations to help vulnerable populations. By engaging in professional or community service we help to improve a community’s health. A recent analysis of civic engagement and state health outcomes from 1996 to 2020 showed that in states where people are more civically engaged and vote more, public health outcomes are better.   I challenge you to become more civically engaged! 1.    Vote and help someone else vote in the next election within your community (e.g. provide transportation or fill in for them at work). 2.    Volunteer in your community. 3.    Serve on a committee that affects the health of your community – contact your local schools, churches, non-profit groups, state public health organization for opportunities.   Share your experiences with family and friends!
