Access Matters: A focus group on accessible homes in the West Midlands. The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) have appointed Habinteg and CAE - Centre for Accessible Environments (CAE) to lead focus groups for disabled people, their parents or carers, to discuss their experiences of accessible homes in the WMCA area. The Minnesota Gerontological Society has our 49th Annual Conference on April 23 (virtual) and April 24 (in-person). CALL FOR PRESENTERS! Do you have a session to share or know someone who does? The theme of the conference is "THE FUTURE IS AGE-FRIENDLY." We will consider all presentations with gerontology-related content but are especially interested in presentations that align with one, or more, of the nine domains listed in the Age-Friendly Minnesota Framework. On National Sorry Day, we reflect on how to help heal Australia’s Stolen Generations, their families, and communities. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have endured intergenerational trauma and barriers to justice, affecting their access to opportunities and success. These barriers persist in our healthcare systems, and we must reduce healthcare inequality. This year’s theme, ‘Bringing Them Home – the unfinished business,’ highlights the urgent need to act. Many Stolen Generations survivors are ageing and lack access to a fair redress scheme and crucial records. In 1997, the landmark Bringing Them Home report highlighted 54 recommendations, many of which remain unmet nearly 30 years later. Being sorry is just the start.
