"Cost, anxiety, and lack of time and information can deter women from getting recommended health screenings." ➡️ This can lead to later-stage diagnoses, which are also associated with higher out-of-pocket costs that make it harder for patients to keep up with everyday needs like food and housing. ➡️ Improving cancer survival rates takes more than medicine — it requires removing socioeconomic barriers to screenings and other life-saving treatment. #CancerHealth Gallup Hologic, Inc.

Self-identifying transgender individuals assigned female at birth face three key barriers when seeking care for breast or gynecologic cancers. These barriers include lack of awareness, such as health care avoidance or pronoun misuse within the health care system; access challenges, including limited insurance coverage or identifying trans-competent clinicians; and clinical challenges, including mental or physical health concerns. https://lnkd.in/eYa4EP4s

Health as a human right, and #CancerCare as a human priority. On the occasion of #WorldHealthDay and the World Health Organization’s anniversary, this year's theme "My health, my right" underscores the urgency to hasten our response to the increasing frequency of sudden health shifts impacting numerous lives. Data presented in a recent report (https://ow.ly/Mpye50R93Gf) shows that #UniversalHealthCoverage, which aims to ensure quality health services for all individuals regardless of their location, has still a long way to go, especially in #oncology. 📌To learn more about this topic, read Dario Trapani’s article in the #ESMODailyReporter. https://ow.ly/JrFW50R93Ck

Despite increased efforts in cancer screening, the persistent health disparities between Black and white populations remain a significant challenge. These disparities are deeply rooted in systemic issues, including access to quality care, socioeconomic factors, and underlying biases within the healthcare system. To truly address these inequities, we need a comprehensive approach that goes beyond screening. It requires targeted interventions, community engagement, and a commitment to addressing the social determinants of health. By focusing on these broader issues, we can work towards a healthcare system that delivers equitable outcomes for all, regardless of race. #HealthEquity #Healthcare #HealthcareDisparities

I'm happy to see the U.S. #PreventiveServicesTaskForce recommend this. World Health Organization recommendations are rather complex. #BreatCancer kills >500,000 #women each year. In resource–poor settings, most #women with #BreastCancer are diagnosed at an advanced stage of disease, and their 5-year survival rates are low (10% – 40%). In settings where early detection and basic treatment are accessible, the 5-year survival rate for early localized #BreastCancer is >80%. Universal Health Coverage (#UHC) is not just about ensuring that patients are not faced with financial difficulties when seeking medical care, but also that they receive the care they need. However, there is a shortage of global healthcare workers, including laboratory specialists and radiologists, which means that technology solutions will be required to improve the speed of diagnosis, expand access to specialists through telemedicine, and overcome barriers to care. This is especially important for improving early detection and treatment of breast cancer. #worldcancerday #breastcancer #digitalhealth
