I believe that leaders should start being intentional in creating safe working spaces and eradicating harassment and gender-based violence in their workplaces. Starting conversations, providing platforms to discuss these issues, and being proactive rather than reactive are some of the ways to effect a culture transformation in the organization. To all leaders at all levels in the mining industry, we can all make a difference today. #IWiM - International Women in Mining #representationmatters #diversityandinclusion

As one of the sponsors of the 2nd annual Global Business Leaders in Mining Diversity Conference by Diversity Woman Media, we hosted a keynote discussion during the event on "Why Does Representation in Mining Matter in 2023 and Beyond". This was a fireside chat involving Bothwell Mazarura, Chief Financial Officer, Kumba Iron Ore and a member of IWiM's Governance Board, Kevin D'Souza, Chief Sustainability Officer at Resource Capital Funds and a member of IWIM's Advisory Council, and Barbara Dischinger (She/Her), IWiM Director. For IWiM - International Women in Mining, this was a long overdue conversation. It's high time we engage in courageous dialogues about racial and ethnic discrimination, addressing these industry-wide issues. This is a critical matter because we recognise that to make informed decisions, we must ensure that every voice, especially those not present in the room, is heard and valued. We firmly believe that diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and talents are the keys to unlocking a brighter future in mining. A special thank you to Crystal Harkless, Dr. Sheila Robinson, and all who attended the conference and were part of the discussion! ✨ In case you missed it or want to relive the highlights, watch the full video here - https://lnkd.in/d5q-Nzwd #mining #representation #representationmatters #diversityandinclusion #diversitymatters
