Meet Jessica Cox, a pilot with no arms. 😳 In a world where limitations often define our potential, there are individuals like Jessica who redefine what's possible. Despite been born without arms, Jessica didn’t let anything hold her back. In fact, she became the first certified sport pilot to fly a plane using only her feet, earning a Guinness World Record! Jessica's success wasn’t just about her. She had a whole group of pilots cheering her on. They believed in her and supported her every step of the way. And that teamwork made all the difference. Jessica's story reminds us that we’re stronger together. Just like how her pilot friends supported her, we can rely on our friends and family when times get tough. With their support, we can overcome any obstacle and reach for the stars. Jessica Cox incredible story serves as a powerful reminder that resilience, determination, and the support of others can help us overcome even the toughest obstacles. So, let’s learn from Jessica’s journey. Let’s lean on each other, encourage one another, and together, we can achieve the impossible. Safety ALWAYS First
In 2023, more than 12,500,000 commercial flights were registered in Pan America, and we did not have any fatalities. Such an important achievement in an industry as complex as aviation does not come by chance, nor is it the result of luck. Rather, it is the product of teamwork, collaboration, data sharing, and informed decision making. At RASG-PA we are proud to dedicate our work to aviation safety, and to bring together key stakeholders to contribute and help improve the safety of the skies in our region and the world.

Zero fatalities in scheduled commercial flights in 2023 in the Pan-American region is an important result of collaboration among the ICAO South American Regional Office, ICAO North American, Central American and Caribbean Regional Office, aviation regulators in the region, and the aviation sector, including industry and employee associations. By sharing information in a non-punitive environment, government and industry can identify risks and develop risk mitigation strategies. Our work is never done, but we should take a moment to recognize our contributions to this outcome and build on our accomplishments.

When I joined RASG-PA in 2010, the region was experiencing an average of 6 to 10 fatal accidents a year, that added up to hundreds of fatalities every year. This was already an important reduction from previous decades, and a really high standard compared to other industries, but we knew we could do better, and that it was not enough. With RASG-PA (States, Airlines, Manufacturers, Professional Organizations, Airports, and partners) we set a clear objective of reducing the risk of a fatality by 50% from 2010 to 2020. To accomplish this we created a clear implementation roadmap to improve our safety data collection (protect our safety information sources, change the safety culture, enable safety data sharing, etc) and to use that information to identify risks, develop safety enhancements and implement and monitor their effectiveness. This simple but effective plan, where we focused our resources on the top contributors to our accidents, WORKED! by the end of the decade we had actually achieved an 87.5% reduction! way over the 50% we hoped to achieve. We actually had the first 0 fatalities in the LATAM-CAR region in 2014, and repeated it on 2017 and 2019. And now this became then new standard: 0 fatalities Congratulations to all the amazing people who work in the aviation industry in the Pan-American region that make this possible. Keep it up, and remember that the risks we identified and worked on will always be there! And they will come back if we forget why those safety improvements where put in place, why we do what we do, the way we do it! All the training, procedures, policies, resources and programs that are there keep us safe, be aware of cost cutting practices and "new ways" of doing things that diminish your safety standards.

As a child, I was captivated by words and images, spending countless hours immersed in Reader’s Digest ads and spellbound by the commercials on our black-and-white Sanyo TV. The most memorable one? A group of people creating a synchronized smiley face that winked at the end. It was pure magic! Fast forward to today, and my love for creative advertising remains as strong as ever. The recent ad for the Deadpool edition of liquor, featuring @Ryan Reynolds, aka Deadpool himself, is a perfect example of this magic. The Vasectomy cocktail ad, released for Father’s Day, blends the charm of a mini-movie with the warmth of friendly banter, making it an absolute winner. In the hospitality industry, creating memorable experiences is key. Just like that winking smiley face from my childhood, great marketing leaves a lasting impression. Ryan Reynolds' ad does just that—it entertains, engages, and resonates with its audience, much like a conversation with your best friend. Despite being a few days late for Father’s Day, the brilliance of this campaign remains. It’s a masterclass in blending humor, storytelling, and brand alignment. For those of us in hospitality marketing, it’s a reminder of the power of creativity and the importance of connecting with our audience on a personal level. Here's to creating those magical moments that stay with us, just like that unforgettable wink! #MarketingMagic #HospitalityMarketing #CreativeAdvertising #RyanReynolds #DeadpoolEdition #VasectomyCocktail #FathersDay #Storytelling #BrandEngagement
