“Ènìà l’aso mi! Bí mo lówó, bí mo níyì, ènìà l’aso mi!” This Yoruba adage underscores my #gratitude to all my #colleagues at Leadway, particularly all those who have allowed me to be a direct part of their professional careers including the privileges of involving me in their personal lives. Often, for work to move on effortlessly, the personal and the professional lives of a person must find a good blend rather than careful balance. As the adage goes (hopefully, without being lost in translation): “People are my covering. Whether I have money, whether I have honour, people are my covering.”
So, whatever an individual may achieve in life, people make it happen in their labours and in their recognition of one’s part in it. A person cannot succeed without people at the heart of decisions and actions. Thoughts, visions and dreams are realized by people. Systems are created and destroyed by people. The age of knowledge machinery and equipment will work good and bad because of people. Dreams are peopled and so are nightmares. Much of energy is void and it is people that render it negative or positive or neutral in opposite charges. In all, people signify fate because all our personal moves are staged, aligned, shaped, curved, divided, scattered and redirected by people in their own choices to ours. All these to enable us achieve the destinies that have been set for us for the good of humankind.
Much of my choices in life have been shaped by a need to be of service and the joy of being helpful to people. Being of service with joy sometimes consoles one’s lack of happiness, which, as I believe, is often overrated and somewhat selfish as a desire. Rather than chase happiness, I tried to deliver hard messages in ways that, I hope, helped people to realize the best of themselves. Sometimes, my ways were harsh but I would suffer along with others to achieve results. I have had to endure being disliked until I get one of those nice future notes/gifts of gratitude, which were always embarrassingly generous. The cap of such notes/gifts recently came in form of a collective award by the Sales Team of Leadway during my garden leave. It was such a surprise when my colleague Umashime Oguzor-Doghro and @Aisha Bello-Garuba brought the plaque to me at home. Umashime Oguzor-Doghro had received it on my behalf with photo of herself and my colleagues taking it from our Managing Director and our Commercial Director, Gboyega Lesi. I felt humbled. It was joyful.
#insurancesales is not for everyone, particularly within an environment where much of consumer sentiment is still elementary. Our Sales and Relationship Management Teams are unique and work so hard on the field to ensure that the message of #insurancecoverage is clear and consistent. Afterall, moratorium selling of what insurance is breeds mistrusts.
THANK YOU TO ALL MY LEADWAY SALES PEOPLE for what you do and thank you for the award. I am deeply flattered by your generosity.
