I spoke with a corporate development director at a tech company who is thriving in his role and expecting a promotion soon. He wasn’t interested in the role I’m recruiting for, but he shared how working for a PE-backed company helped his career take off. He started in Big 4, doing financial due diligence (FDD) for tech clients. When he left Big 4, he took a Senior Financial Analyst role at a PE-backed tech company. It wasn’t the highest-paying offer, but the CFO—also a Big 4 alum—told him about the growth opportunities ahead. That choice changed everything. The fast-paced environment pushed him to grow fast. He worked on M&A deals and gained board-level experience in strategic decision-making. When it was time for his next move, he used that experience to land his current role in corporate development—earning almost $100K more than before. PE-backed companies can fast-track your career.

Do not despise small beginnings. The photo below is very dear to me as it was taken at my first job. Back then, I hadn't decided on pursuing a career in the financial services industry, but I'm grateful I stayed the course. Reflecting on my 10-year journey in finance, I find this path fascinating and fulfilling. The lessons from successes, disappointments, and failures have been invaluable. I just completed New York Jobs CEO Council's Financial Analyst on Forage. In the simulation I: 1] Completed a Simulation focused on financial analysis as an Analyst on the technology team at an investment bank. 2] Played a pivotal role in aiding senior bankers to determine the feasibility of establishing a partnership with BigTechCompany.  3] Demonstrated strong communication skills by articulately presenting findings and opinions to senior bankers.

We switched Clarity's banking from Wells Fargo to Peapack, and we just made a major change to a new financial system (QuickBooks to Sage). What is one tip you would give on how to manage your workload and stay productive? I think it is important to prioritize tasks and to set realistic goals. What do you like most about working at Clarity? I really like working with my finance team. Everyone is always willing to do whatever is needed to get the job finished.
