Farm Sanctuary’s Post

As a male born into the dairy industry, Leo was considered “worthless” because males can’t produce milk, which means they can’t bring in profits. The farmer who owned Leo was so eager to get rid of the newborn calf that he even listed him for just $15 on Craigslist and then abandoned him and three other calves in a filthy trailer with no access to food or water. Animal control officers found Leo and his three friends on the brink of death after rescuers alerted them to the situation. In the end, Leo was the only survivor. When we learned of Leo’s story, we knew we had to bring him to sanctuary. Once he was in our care, we got Leo the medical attention he desperately needed and began his healing journey. Today, Leo is a symbol of strength, and we know he’s priceless. This July, you can adopt Leo and support his care with a one-time gift, and Treeline vegan cheesemakers will match your donation up to $10,000! Leo’s story reminds us that there is no such thing as “humane dairy” and that the dairy industry is cruel, just like the meat industry. For the sake of calves like Leo, please reconsider before you choose dairy. Adopt Leo today: https://bit.ly/4cCJG1i

What consequences did the farmer have for animal cruelty?

No charges for the farmer abandoning them to die?

When I saw this video it brought tears to my eyes No animal ever should be treated that way God bless people like you. I worked on a dairy farm Shoe makers Dairy farm. And the farmer I worked for worshiped his animals whether they produced or not. I helped Cary a newborn calf from a field down to the barn and I tell you that was one of the best feelings in the world being that close and helping a animal. Thank you for all you do for all the animals in need. GOD BLESS YOU

How can other sanctuaries and shelters learn from your model and work with dairy farms to adopt male calves?

Yes. Made the move to Almond milk, vegan mayo.  Shifting to vegan alternatives to cheese and yogurt.

Please 🙏🏼 everyone call your local USG senators and congressman about creating legislation that becomes laws to stop subsidizing the meat and dairy industry with tax dollars! It’s insane to do this since it’s the number 3 cause of global warming!! Not to mention the horrific hell on earth cruel sadistic abuse it imposes on billions of animals !

Thank you Farm Sanctuary for rescuing sweet Leo. And it is because of little babies like Leo, and their forever tortured mothers, that I flat out refuse to consume dairy (or meat for that matter). I will have no part of the cruelty, torture, brutality and murder of the evil dairy industry.

Thank you for rescuing him and giving him the medical attention and ultimately home he needs. Also, thanks to Treeline for doubling donations and supporting your cause. Their vegan cheeses are phenomenal.
