📝Sometimes I see such innovations and I watch, over and over again because when verified and approved, they hold intrinsic value to local communities that depend on water from the river as their source for home and livestock. ⭕You see, when it rains in the village, there is alot of silt flowing from upstream, thus muddying the water. ⭕Communities do harvest rain water, though it is never enough for the season. ⭕They are left with only 2 options. ❗. Drink muddy water ❗. Travel longer distances in search of Wells that are not affected by the silt. Consumes much more time and its back breaking work. ⭕That why such innovations can contribute positively to lives and livelihoods of communities. follow 👉 Tahir Hussain

With Phase III of FOLU’s strategy on the horizon, we’re celebrating some of the impact the Coalition has had across the last 3 and a half years. From scaling regenerative agriculture in Ethiopia, to costing and modelling the mitigation potential of Nature-based Solutions in Kenya and India, we’ve been working with actors in seven countries and at global, regional, national and local levels to unlock better #FoodSystems outcomes for people, nature and climate. Our first Impact Report captures just a snapshot of our efforts in our Phase II workstream and highlights the progress our community has made in driving collective #ActionOnFood at scale. None of it would’ve been possible without our funding partners, and we thank each and every one of them for supporting us in our mission to deliver more sustainable, equitable and resilient food systems for all. Stay tuned for more in FOLU Phase III, but in the meantime browse the report to learn about our efforts and initiatives between 2021 and 2024 👇 https://lnkd.in/dxZAfN6Z

Promoting innovation and startup culture is key in developing countries towards sustainable and inclusive agrifood system transformation. Under the EU funded STODAS project, FAO in the Pacific subregion has partnered with the relevant ministries in Fiji, Samoa and Solomon Islands to establish, first time ever in FAO history, three physical agribusiness incubators. We look forward to working with many partners, mentors, investors, well-wishers and mission-aligned forces to strengthen this high multiplier-effect cross-cutting intervention that promises to engage youth and women in agrifood system transformation in the region and set a template for wide scale out.
🚜🍎 What does it take to transform #Agrifood systems in some of the world’s most remote regions? 💡With the support of United Nations FAO and the European Union, the Sustainable Transformation of Domestic Agrifood Systems (STODAS) project is paving the way for food security and resilience in Fiji, Samoa, and the Solomon Islands! This innovative initiative addresses challenges like supply chain disruptions, food inflation, and a lack of innovation and startup culture, helping these Pacific nations build a brighter, more sustainable future. Here’s how STODAS is turning these challenges into opportunities: 🎯 For the first time ever in the Pacific, agribusiness incubation centers have been established in collaboration with national ministries and local stakeholders! Located in Fiji, Samoa, and the Solomon Islands, these centres are foundations for a new #ecosystem to attract youth, women, and aspiring entrepreneurs to agriculture. 🎯 Through the Agri-Innovate business plan competition, the initiative identifies, supports, and promotes promising agribusiness ideas — empowering local talent to reimagine agriculture as a thriving, sustainable and #innovative industry. 🎯 3 agribusiness incubation centers have been established across the region, with over 90 agribusinesses to be directly supported, creating #opportunities for innovation and growth! 🎯 More than 150 ecosystem enablers and 2,000 farmers will benefit from strengthened #agrifood systems, and 9 outstanding agribusinesses were showcased at the SIDS Solutions Forum 2024 in Fiji. By fostering innovation and supporting startups, we’re helping to transform domestic food systems and ensure they can weather future crises – building resilience for the future and laying the foundation for a vibrant and inclusive agricultural industry. 👨🌾 💡 Join us in reimagining the future of agriculture in the Pacific! 🌍🍽️ Today we celebrate 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆! 🌾🌱 🏢At FOODCITYBOOST, we recognise the transformative potential of urban agriculture in providing sustainable, nutritious, and fresh food for all. 🥕 🚀Here are some points that highlight the impact and potential of Urban Agriculture: · Urban Agriculture (UA) accounts for approximately 5 - 10% of the world's food production ( source: bit.ly/48kbNRL ). However, there is significant potential to increase this share. · Urban Agriculture reduces food transportation emissions and promotes recycling. · UA fosters community ties and enhances local diets by promoting fruit and vegetable consumption. 🔓Let’s unlock the potential of Urban Agriculture and nourish the world's cities! #UrbanAgriculture #Sustainability #worldfooday #HorizonEU #ResearchimpactEU

🌍 Empowering Communities with AI-Guided Modern Home Gardens 🌱✨ At Akili za Kesho, we are passionate about leveraging technology and innovation to drive sustainable change. One of our most exciting projects this year is the development of AI-guided modern home gardens, designed to empower families, combat poverty, address food insecurity, and fight climate change—all starting right at home. 🏡🌾 Recently, We had the privilege of helping my aunt set up her very own modern garden of greens and medicinal plants, and the response from the community has been incredible! 💚 This garden has not only become a source of fresh, healthy food but also a symbol of resilience and hope for a sustainable future. 🌳✨ Now, we’re expanding this initiative to support more households in the community, especially those with extra space, to set up their own gardens. By planting green medicine trees and sustainable crops, we’re building a network of climate-smart households that actively contribute to environmental conservation and food security. 🌾🌍 How AI Fits In? 🤖 Our approach integrates AI-driven insights to optimize garden layouts, resource management, and crop selection, ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency in even the smallest spaces. This is about making advanced technology accessible to everyone, breaking barriers, and driving real change. 💡✨ 🤝 We’re Looking for Partners! To scale this initiative and reach even more communities, we’re seeking partnerships with organizations, policymakers, and innovators who share our vision for sustainable agriculture and community empowerment. Let’s work together to create a greener, more resilient East Africa! 🌱🌍 📩 If you’d like to collaborate or learn more, feel free to reach out (info@akilizakesho.com ) or comment below. Let’s cultivate a brighter future together! Our website is www.akilizakesho.com #Sustainability #Innovation #AIInAgriculture #FoodSecurity #CommunityImpact #ClimateAction

Here's our project, where Sanjana Kashwa , Ranjeet Gupta , Shraddha Kesharwani, Sohil Sharma , and I pushed our boundaries and grew as communicators, all from the comfort of our room. Proud of what we achieved together. #friendshipandgrowth Clean water is essential for numerous reasons: Health: Access to clean water reduces the risk of waterborne diseases, such as cholera and dysentery, which can be life-threatening. Nutrition: Clean water is vital for growing crops and livestock, directly impacting food security and nutrition. Sanitation: It supports proper sanitation practices, which are crucial for community health and hygiene. Economic Development: Reliable access to clean water boosts economic productivity by improving health, reducing healthcare costs, and enabling agricultural and industrial activities. Ecosystems: Clean water supports biodiversity and the health of aquatic ecosystems, which are crucial for maintaining environmental balance. Quality of Life: Access to clean water enhances overall quality of life, enabling people to engage in daily activities without health concerns. Overall, clean water is fundamental to human survival, well-being, and sustainable development. #cleanwater #importanceofcleanwater #sanitation #classproject #growth
