Commercial scale equipment can harvest hundreds of acres of potatoes per day. However, when conducting small-plot potato variety trials you need to have a much lower expectation. Significant manual labor is involved in the process and a productive day may only amount to 1 acre. Why is potato field research so much slower? Every potato matters. Researchers collect data from each potato tuber to understand yield and quality. These methods allow us to determine how breeding has improved new varieties The McCain Foods Agronomy, Seed and Variety teams consists of passionate professionals who love doing this type of work, knowing that it contributes to finding great potato varieties for people to enjoy. #mccainfoods #potato #agronomy
