The annual Farm 5K Benefit Run/Walk has always been a pillar of support for our local volunteer fire and rescue squads. This year, in the aftermath of the March wildfires that struck Hardy County, our support for them is more essential than ever. Many of our Junior Crew and staff worked alongside the volunteer fire + rescue crews, attempting to save homes from the quickly spreading fires. The footage seen in this video was taken by several of our staff members. We're calling on YOU to get involved and help us support our first responders. Help us make a big difference in our small community! Share this post and visit farm5k.org to donate and register today.

Did you know that this month is American Red Cross Month?⛑️ It's important to recognize the vital role that the organization plays in supporting communities across the country. One of the most critical areas of focus for the Red Cross is home fire prevention and relief. Every year, thousands of families are impacted by devastating home fires, and the Red Cross is there to provide support and assistance in the aftermath. As one of their Safety Campaigns, the Red Cross works to educate families on fire safety and prevention. In addition, they offer resources and support to help families get back on their feet after a fire, including temporary shelter, food, and clothing. This month, let’s take a moment to recognize the incredible work that the American Red Cross does to keep our communities safe. Whether it’s through volunteering, donating, or spreading the word about their important mission, we can all play a role to help make a difference! #americanredcrossmonth #americanredcross #providingaide #safetyfirst #firesafetyeducation #fireprevention #firerelief #jackwardfireconsultants #originandcausefireinvestiation #fireinvestigation

60% of goods donated during disasters end up in landfills. Don’t do a random product drive. You can’t control what people will drop off. It often costs more to deliver / ship things to where it is needed. Don’t donate things that aren’t asked for. It is a critical time to address the impact of high heat on individuals, families and communities across the state, particularly for those struggling financially to address and adapt to the record-breaking temperatures. Wildfire is here to help. Governor Hobbs' order also directed state agencies to develop a comprehensive heat plan by March 2024 and advocate for more federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding. As a community action agency that connects low-income households with resources, Wildfire will do everything we can to support Governor Hobbs bringing more LIHEAP money into the state. "The program was initially designed to help cold-weather communities keep residents heated in the winter, but it has evolved to become an important resource for air conditioning assistance in hot summers, said Wildfire Executive Director, Kelly McGowan. Wildfire will match community donations up to $500,000 in donations to repair and replace HVAC units for qualifying low-income individuals at no cost to them -- bringing the total raise to $1,000,000. The more we are able to raise in donations, the greater the impact we can make. EM community! Let me tell you about an amazing VOAD called Project:Camp. They set up pop-up, trauma-informed day camps for children in areas that have been affected by disaster. They are currently on the ground in New Mexico setting up one such camp in response to the wildfires. Unlike most NGOs, they put children's care and well-being at the forefront of response. I love their mission and happy to be getting more involved. If you like their mission too and, as an EM professional, can see they may be able to aid your communities post disaster, I have a few asks: 1) Please like/share this post to boost their visibility 2) Please reach out if you are or know of the right POC in your community to begin building a relationship before disaster strikes. 3) Please consider donating
