Recently, a thunderstorm rolled through Peoria, IL, unleashing a lightning strike that severely damaged the communications and controls at the Caterpillar Trail Public Water District's Water Treatment Plant. Farnsworth Group's dedicated SCADA and Controls Engineers were called to help as the damage threatened to disrupt operations. Within an hour, they were on-site, assessing the damage and working tirelessly against the clock. By the end of the day, they had restored manual operations and devised a swift workaround for automatic operation, ensuring the plant continued to operate seamlessly. With the capacity to handle up to 2.5 million gallons of water daily, the plant's uninterrupted service was crucial to the District's customers. Thanks to our team's rapid response and innovative problem-solving skills, customers did not experience any disruption to their water supply. This incident is just one chapter in our long-standing relationship with Caterpillar Trail Public Water District. Since 1999, Farnsworth Group has been a trusted partner, guiding the District's planning, design, and construction to provide its customers with a safe and reliable water system. #farnsworthforward #advancingourcommunities #championingourclientssuccess https://lnkd.in/gZSwdYfh

Improving Infrastructure at Iconic Locations! ⛰ Our Arizona team recently made a significant impact at the Grand Canyon National Park by installing 2-8” Hydra Stop insertion valves, a crucial upgrade to the park's water infrastructure. This advanced solution allowed us to isolate sections of the pipeline, enabling the removal and replacement of old, non-functional valves — all without disrupting the park's water supply. Our expertise ensures that even in the most challenging environments, progress never stops. 💧🏞 #InfrastructureInnovation #WaterManagement #GrandCanyon #EngineeringExcellence #tapmasterinc #insertionvalve #pipeline #maintenance #waterlines #civilengineering #publicworks #facilitymaintenance #undergroundutilities #waterindustry #waterinfrastructure #pipelines #watertreatment #hydrastop #waterconservation

As National Water Quality Month continues, we celebrate a vital project we’re just initiating with the Logan County Public Service District in West Virginia. Originally constructed in 2002, the Northern Regional Water Treatment Plant requires upgrades to increase production capacity, enabling it to provide a quality and dependable source of potable water and fire protection service to approximately 8,530 customers in the Town of Mitchell Heights, Town of Chapmanville WV, and a long list of unincorporated areas in West Virginia. The plant’s service area includes portions of Logan, Lincoln, Boone, Mingo, and Wayne Counties in West Virginia. The project includes upgrading the existing 2,800 gpm water treatment plant including increasing capacity to 5,600 gpm with installation of two new filter units, construction of a new 800,000 gallons finished water storage tank, refurbishing an existing 1,500,000 gallons water storage tank, new 254,000 gallons clearwell, refurbishing an existing 254,000 gallons clearwell, two new 700,000 gallons pre-sedimentation basins, five new raw water pumps, five new transfer pumps, five new high service pumps, a grit removal and sludge handling system, new filter media, and telemetry upgrades. These large-scale upgrades will make a big impact! We have done many projects that provide access to clean water. Read more about these important initiatives and the difference they make in our blog “Water Water Everywhere and Not a Drop to Drink” https://lnkd.in/gdBxkt49 Contact Randall Lewis or Brandon Conley, PE, MSE with questions or to discuss a similar project. #WaterTreatment #WaterManagement #CivilEngineers

Sediment in treatment tanks is one of the most common causes of system failure, but it's preventable. Pretreatment can manage the overwhelming buildup of sediment and trash, allowing your system to operate efficiently and effectively. Cross bores are no joke. These inadvertent intersections of buried utilities occur when a new line is installed using trenchless technology and its path is not properly mapped and inspected prior to installation. The resulting damage to the existing line could lead to service interruptions, or in the worst cases injury or death. Water & Sewer Damage Awareness Week, presented by GPRS, runs from October 23-27, 2023, and will give you the opportunity to learn from industry leaders on how to proactively mitigate the risk of cross bores in your municipality or campus. Experts estimate that one third of drinking water is lost during the transportation process. This water cannot be charged of course and you probably know this under the term non-revenue water. That's why small improvements could pay for themselves within short time already. The PipePatrol leakage management solutions eliminate these problems for you. #waterindustry #water #watermanagement #watertreatmentplant #watertreatmentsystem #processinstrumentation #flowmeter #wastewatermanagement #processinstrumentation #Pipeline #leakage #criticalinfrastucture

When it rains, it never pours, with Red Valve’s unmatched line of Tideflex® backflow prevention products. The legendary Tideflex® TF-1 Check Valve eliminates costly backflow from oceans, CSO, SSO, rivers, stormwater and interceptors, while still offering low headloss and maximizing flow. For more than 30 years, Red Valve’s world leadership in elastomer technology has resulted in the highest quality backflow prevention products, with a proven record of maintenance-free performance, cost savings and results no other check valves can match. This video shows a 900mm wall-mounted, flat-bottomed Tideflex® TF-1 Check Valve fitted to a headwall at a wastewater treatment plant outfall to a tidal river. The TF-1 prevents surcharge flooding from the river back into the wastewater treatment plant, preventing damage and saving money by not allowing clean water from the river back into the treatment process. The Tf-1 operates on differential pressure and can still discharge flow while being submerged. In the video, the TF-1 is partially submerged, and with very little head upstream, it is able to discharge flow. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3qAGluq #tideflex #redvalve #checkvalve #backflow
