Amplifying the voices of Black women. Dr. Mom. Founder of BSW Chronicles. Adjunct @ Purdue Global & SNHU
Sharing this call for chapters with my network for reach more on this project below. #BlackMothers #Othermothers #Kinships #Blackwoman #BlackScholars #Intersectionality This book seeks to highlight the narratives, perspectives, and realities of Black mother scholarship. This work extends upon the existing scholarship of generations of Black women scholars who have illuminated the multidimensional impact of gender and race on Black women in institutions of higher education. Their work illustrates the various ways our voices are underrepresented, misrepresented, and all together silenced as we counter normative understandings of knowledge production, Black womanhood, and motherhood within white supremacist spaces. In opposition to this silencing, the voices of the Black women must be at the forefront of defining and conceptualizing how institutional policies and practices can support the intersectional experiences of Black mother scholarship.
Assistant Professor of Raciolinguistic Justice in Early Childhood Teacher Education; Poet; Keynote Speaker; Educational Consultant; All viewpoints are my own.
I met so many amazing Black mother scholars in Philadelphia at #AERA24! Don’t forget that Crystasany R. Turner, Ph.D. and I are accepting proposals for manuscripts for an edited book volume titled, “Black Mother Scholarship Within and Beyond the Academy: Reconceptualizing Radical Futurity” until April 30th. We would love to connect with you and look forward to lifting up your brilliance! This would be an excellent space for my fellow arts-based qualitative researchers as well. Creative entries are definitely welcomed!! Please see the link below for the full call: https://lnkd.in/gFcdAz28

I'm so excited!!! My article "Articulating and Interrogating Black Embodied Resistance: Using Performative Symbolic Resistance as a Tactical, Analytical Tool,” published in the online open-access journal, Constellations, was recently honored through selection for inclusion in the 2023 Best of Rhetoric and Composition Journals collection from Parlor Press. In this article, I present my methodological, analytical framework Performative Symbolic Resistance (PSR), which provides language for rhetorically encapsulating what happens when bodies and spaces are used simultaneously to engage in resistant acts (think Kaepernick's kneeling and Naomi Osaka's mask wearing at the U.S. Open). I also present The PSR Puzzle, which provides 1) criteria for determining if a resistant act is PSR and 2) a corresponding data collection tool. https://lnkd.in/esRXAcaD

This is my plug for the roles that subjective interpretation, intuition, ambiguity, expressiveness and artistry can play in (re)solving problems.
"Creative Arts at Brisbane Girls Grammar School isn't just about finding answers; it's about exploring the beauty of ambiguity and embracing the power of subjective interpretation." In this week's edition of Reflections, hear from Director of Creative Arts, Mr Andrew Pennay, with his reflection on creative problem-solving and the importance of subjective interpretation and collaboration in arts education. COURSE OFFERING: Bibliography and Black American Print Culture Descriptive bibliography, analytical bibliography, and textual criticism have long been a part of the methods by which literary historians have traced the bibliographical genealogies of textual transmission for a given title or body of work. However, once retooled toward a more expansive and inclusive perspective, bibliography can be implemented in ways that can contribute to deeper understandings of Black print culture. For Black Americans in particular, bibliography has been a pathway to establishing selfhood and fostering a rich intellectual and literary tradition of resistance. Looking at the history of Black American writers, poets, scholars, publishers, and printers from a viewpoint of material culture, this course will apply bibliographical methods to the analysis of Black print culture. From Jupiter Hammon to the Street lit of today, from yesterday’s ephemera to today’s typefaces, we will begin to explore the various ways in which books and periodicals have been both racialized and racially gendered in their material facets. #blackbibliography #bibliography #blackprintculture #printculture #popularculture #textualstudies #literaryhistory #literarytradition
