🌟 Great News! 🌟 I'm thrilled to share that I recently presented my paper titled "Real World Field Trial for RIS-Aided Commercial 5G mmWave Wireless Communication" at the prestigious EuCNC & 6G Summit conference in the lovely city of Antwerp! In this paper, we evaluated the performance and functionality of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) in a real-world environment at mmWave frequency ranges. Our study focused on the ability of RIS to redirect beams from a 5G gNB to user equipment in shadowed areas. We investigated how RIS beamforming improves received signal quality and data rates, without causing additional interference in the surrounding area. Our experimental results are promising, showing that RIS can effectively extend and enhance 5G network coverage while maintaining an interference-free environment. Plus, it achieves this with low power consumption, operating efficiently on a battery! This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the support and collaboration of my incredible team and mentors Ahmad Shokair Youssef Nasser Geoffroy Lerosey Orange and Groupe SNCF teams. In parallel, with Vladimir Lenets, we have demonstrated our technology at booths 17 and 18. UBIQCONN PARTNERS WITH TAIWAN GOVERNMENT TO BUILD SATELLITE SYSTEM Ubiqconn and Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) announced Tuesday that they will work together to develop Taiwan’s own “large array high-bandwidth satellite ground terminal equipment” – with the support of the Industrial Technology Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. This cooperation is part of the Taiwan government's recently announced policy of developing an independent SatCom system. Ubiqconn’s chairman, Leo Chien (Chien Min-chi) said: “In the production and manufacturing of satellite communication terminal devices, Ubiqconn has already cooperated with major international manufacturers. We have already built a complete production line in Taiwan, so 100% of the development and manufacturing can be done in Taiwan. 📗 Good News from WRC 2023 📗 On 15th December 2023, During WRC2023, Governments agreed on a new mobile low-band spectrum (below 1 GHz) and mid-band spectrum in the 3.5 GHz and 6 GHz ranges. The most important decisions are: 📍 Identifying additional mid-band spectrum for mobile, besides harmonization of the 3.5 GHz band (3.3-3.8 GHz) which is considered as the pioneer 5G band, a new band – the 6 GHz band (6.425-7.125 GHz) – was identified for mobile in every ITU Region – EMEA, the Americas and the Asia Pacific. 📍 The 6 GHz spectrum is now the harmonized home for the expansion of mobile capacity for 5G-Advanced and beyond which means an additional 2 GHz for more capacity. 📍 Defining mobile use of more low-band spectrum in the 470-694 MHz band in EMEA. Low bands can help expand the capacity for the internet connectivity of rural communities as their signals reach wide areas. 📍 Identifying the 2 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands for using high-altitude platform stations as IMT base stations (HIBS) and establishing regulations for their operations. 📍 Allocation of the bands 15.41-15.7 GHz and 22-22.2 GHz in Radio Regulations Region 1 and some Region 3 countries to the aeronautical mobile service for non-safety aeronautical applications. #ITU #WRC #Spectrum #Radio #5G #6GHz
