🌍💧 Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! Today, we honor the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous communities around the world. This day is also a powerful reminder of the vital connection between Indigenous peoples and the environment, particularly in the stewardship of our most precious resource: clean water. Indigenous communities have long been guardians of the land and water, advocating for sustainable practices that honor and protect our natural resources. Clean water is essential for life, and its preservation is critical for both the environment and the health of future generations. Let’s celebrate by supporting Indigenous-led initiatives that focus on water protection, advocating for sustainable practices, and amplifying Indigenous voices in environmental conservation. Together, we can work toward a future where everyone has access to clean water and a healthy environment. https://lnkd.in/dQU6fVV8

One of many reasons to support the Chesapeake Bay Trust: effective and efficient funding of environmental literacy and environmental stewardship! Watch the short video below to get a peak into how the Trust is changing the health of the Chesapeake Bay and the region's communities by investing in our youth!
We are thrilled to be sharing the third installment of our “Empowering People. Restoring Nature.” campaign! Today we’re highlighting environmental literacy & our littlest environmental stewards! “The young adults and students and youth that we engage through our environmental literacy programs are going to become the next environmental and climate stewards,” explained Program Manager Emily Stransky. Watch the video that features our incredible grantee ShoreRivers and their Sturgeon Discovery Fieldtrip with 3rd graders! “It’s amazing to give these kids something about the environment to love, and that stays with them,” said Morgan Buchanan, Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps graduate and Education Programs Coordinator with ShoreRivers “It’s not just we need to do good for the environment. It’s we love this fish, and we want to do good for it!” Thank you so much to the Braker Bros for helping us share the importance of environmental education for all ages and bringing life to the BAY-tastic work being done at the Chesapeake Bay Trust since 1985!
