The approximately 122 million vascular catheters placed in Europe each year result in approximately 960,000 infections. Bloodstream infection is one of the most common complications associated with a central vascular catheter and almost 60% of all nosocomial infections arise through such vascular access. The consequences can be fatal: bloodstream infections are associated with mortality rates of 15–25% worldwide.

The new stroke guidelines recommend PCSK9i as an alternative to statins if LDL--C goals aren't reached. Important to note that we don't really use LDL-C goals much in managing lipid status. And there is no evidentiary data stroke prevention and use of PCSK9i.
