The fashion industry landscape is evolving rapidly, and those who harness technology to reshape their supply chains and adapt will lead the way. By leveraging data insights to produce what consumers truly desire in smaller quantities and at faster speeds for swift delivery, brands can, not only reduce inventory waste but also pave the path towards sustainability and longevity. While this model has been utilised for fast fashion, there's a compelling opportunity to pivot towards sustainable practices instead. https://lnkd.in/dfazMYpk #BusinessofFashion #Fashionaihub #AIforFashion #AI4Fashion #AIforBusinessValue #AIforFashionSustainability

Such an interesting article by Lawrence Lenihan on “The Rise of the Unwasteful Brand”… Lawrence’s prediction: “in 10 years, there will never be another brand that wastes anything: inventory, marketing, time, money, people, resources or anything else. There can’t be: the waste in the global fashion industry has brought it to the brink of economic collapse. The industry spends a lot of time talking about waste in its environmental form (a worthy topic, if often hijacked by meaningless pledges and hollow actions). But from my vantage point, the existential crisis for fashion is waste in its economic form.” Here’s the article: https://lnkd.in/g6qaxSyC Where do you see the fashion industry in 10 years?

Moving Fashion From Products To Services – Decoupling Growth From Production by Darya Badiei Khorsand • The debate between “green growth” and degrowth continues, leaving fashion brands with an uncertain strategic horizon to aim for. • If the outcome is a scaling-back of product variety and volume, brands and retailers may need to turn to product-anchored services as a way of bridging the revenue gap. • In the longer term, these service offerings are likely to move in-house; in the near-term the landscape is set to be defined by partnerships and white-label service handoffs. https://lnkd.in/e9pGTmTu

I Love this article, adopting a more service based approach is clearly the way to go. I know there are already small businesses with this mindset!

Want to hear your opinion: Dear all, I would like you to express your opinion on sustainable fashion. Lately, too many brands have entered the fast-fashion business model market, and now, the world is trying to fight towards a greener, more sustainable world for us all. Trying to make the best use of the tools we already have. Let´s take a look at one of the most successful fast fashion company: Whenever I go, I see this company in particular occurring all the time: TEMU No matter the site I visit, no matter the platform I am on, no matter the device I am on – their adverts are just everywhere..okay, very good marketing team (needless to point out! - really talented people there, or AI? 😀) The “history” of the company goes back as far as September 2022, when it first launched in the US; after a big success, it has emerged in 49 other countries!! It is owned by PDD Holdings (also holds Pinduoduo). There is no transparency; it is like a lion that has appeared and is rapidly taking a bigger and bigger share of the online apparel market. 👗 I would lie telling you that I have not tried to make a purchase from Temu. I did! And the quality? Exactly as the price tells! Therefore, I am wondering if sustainability in clothing even matters to you as a consumer. Or do you buy fast fashion because it is just cheap and it is only clothes, or do the brands offer just nice clothing that does the work, so you buy it because it is nice and just wanna be trendy? What would you personally convince you to purchase sustainable fashion? Would it be all a matter of price? #sustainableliving #sustainablefashion

The fashion industry will not be escaping challenges in 2024, as highlighted in the most recent State of Fashion report. There has certainly been some resilience exhibited, but we're still working on building from slow growth in key regions, declining consumer confidence, and climate-related disruptions that have and continue to pose significant challenges. How will these complexities be handled? Brands are expected to focus on new pricing and promoting strategies, prioritize tech innovations (think generative AI), and increase brand marketing investments. Climate risks, supply chain transparency, and adapting to emerging regulations regarding sustainability must also be addressed. Strategic planning, agility, and an emphasis on building authentic connections with consumers will be crucial for success in the coming year. #Fashion #FutureOfFashion

There's a lot of talk around the fashion industry's environmental problems, and rightly so. But it's a lot, lot harder to gain transparency into the supply chain than people might think. There's no doubt the industry needs to change, but the onus isn't just on brands. The push for transparency must include us all. #fashion #apparel #supplychain #transparency #sustainability
