This week is Fashion Revolution week, an annual global campaign bringing together the world's largest fashion movement for a week of action. April 24th will mark 10 years since the tragic collapse of the Rana Plaza in Dhaka, Bangladesh, killing over 1100 people + injuring more than 2500. This preventable disaster awoke the world to the poor labour conditions faced by many workers in factories across the globe. The movement that is Fashion Revolution, was born. Fashion Revolution has been an important cause for Sans Beast from the beginning, and this week we will be using our platform to spread + support this mission. We wish to add to the ethical conversation during Fashion Revolution Week + ensure that non-human animals are also deeply considered when contemplating the impact the fashion industry has. Billions of animals are bred and slaughtered each year for fashion, with massive environmental impacts + immense cruelty. This year’s theme is How To Be A Fashion Revolutionary, inviting the global community to share a decade of learnings on what it means to be a part of the revolution. Everyone has a part to play in building a fashion industry that puts people, animals + the planet first, we encourage you to explore Fashion Revolution and reflect on where your clothes + accessories came from.
WELCOME TO FASHION REVOLUTION WEEK 2024 📣 Today is the first official day of #FashionRevolutionWeek and this year’s theme is How to be a Fashion Revolutionary. Inspired by a decade of learnings and impact as a global, people-powered movement, we will mark ten years of active campaigning with ten days of action, and invite our global community to share what it means to be a part of the revolution. We will hear from the community builders, creative thinkers and organisers to guide the next generation of Fashion Revolutionaries, and explore fashion’s role in driving social and environmental justice. Everyone has a part to play in building a fashion industry that puts people and planet first, but getting started can seem daunting. Join us as we celebrate ten years of Fashion Revolution and redefine what fashion activism looks like for the future. Throughout the week we’ll be sharing ways to get involved and take action; from meeting the Fashion Revolutionaries around the world to participating in our global day of action on 20th April 🧵✨ Head to https://lnkd.in/ebH9Q699 to… 🎤 Share your story #WeAreFashionRevolution 📚 Register for our online skills workshops 🧵 Find your local #MendInPublicDay event 📲 Download free campaign resources 🎟️ RSVP to online and IRL events throughout the week Let us know your plans in the comments ⬇️

Why (and what) should we learn from a traditional Norwegian cultural staple? Springtime in Norway is a genuinely wonderful time, especially for those who have experienced the preceding winter. The rapidly growing hours of daylight and the return of bright colours to the world puts a spring in one's step 🙂. It also heralds the tradition of spring cleaning, accompanied by the very Norwegian concept of "dugnad". "Dugnad" refers to a cooperative effort or community work done voluntarily for the common good. It is deeply ingrained in Norwegian culture, often involving neighbours coming together to help with tasks like cleaning shared spaces, tending to gardens, or organizing events. The underlying principles of collaboration, shared goals, community spirit and voluntary contribution that "dugnad" represents hold great value in an increasingly interconnected world. Supply chains are increasingly complex. Sustainability is nearly impossible to achieve without collective action. These underlying principles are evident in the FASHION360 initiative launched by Kezzler, Trimco Group and TOMRA.
One down - many to go! ✔ The first of many FASHION360 events was a great success yesterday in beautiful Amsterdam. A morning filled with inspiring sessions, featuring people from every stage of the value chain, all united by a common vision of driving positive change in the industry. Thanks to our panelists Mari Larsen Sæther, Paul Doertenbach, Charlotte Mackenzie, and the usual suspects Camilla Mjelde & Cyrus Gilbert-Rolfe. And of course to all the members of the community that joined us for this event. Now we are off to another packed event in #Copenhagen tomorrow 🙏 The bigger this community grows, the more power to execute on circular initiatives we’ll have. Lets make a change 🤝 🌍 #Fashion360 #TextileCircularity #FashionTech #Community

Fashion Revolution Week 2024. In our own way the Stressed But Well Dressed Podcast is starting a mini revolution! We are championing the fact that well dressed is a state of mind and not a 'trend'. We talk about impact, confidence, courage, sustainability, psychology and resilience. The conversations are about understanding how clothes make us feel, how the symbolism of what we wear influences our behaviour and the idea of a 'well-dressed' mindset. Join the conversation and have a listen through https://lnkd.in/e9uXQZMp or on Spotify, Amazon or Apple. For the psychology of fashion: Season 1, Episode 5 For sustainability: Season 2, Episode 4 For social mobility: Season 2, Episode 6 For inclusive fashion: Season 2, Episode 7 For courage: Season 3, Episode 1.

OPTIMIZING THE DIGITIZATION OF FASHION WEEK The Business of Fashion and Copenhagen Fashion Week partner for a second season, inviting industry leaders, designers, strategists and cultural experts including Esprit’s Ana Andjelic, Lagos Fashion Week founder Omoyemi Akerele, and author and sustainability strategist Alec Leach, to explore future visions for fashion weeks globally. 👾 Optimizing the Digitisation of Fashion Week “Today, consumers really enjoy the peer-to-peer engagement that new channels bring. This is markedly different from reading reviews on Vogue. Fashion weeks have more responsibility today to be much more democratic — speaking to an audience in a way that is much more understandable and digestible,” said one guest. “We have to ask, ‘what is the actual meaning behind what we’re doing? What is the cultural context?’ Younger audiences today have such a thirst for knowledge, especially if they haven’t come from a fashion background. Let’s make it accessible for them.” Another guest highlighted the fashion and luxury industry were focusing on digital channels, but opportunities exist to optimise the impact of fashion week activations. It’s not about simply those 10 minutes of a show, or those three hours of a party. It’s about content and how that endures. “To use the example of Louis Vuitton. [I believe] they measured the success of the show in YouTube views and in impressions, not in how many buyers were there, or how many people actually bought that collection after we just hit the stores. [...] Even with millions spent, it can excite culture for one second. What [the next generation of hybrid community culture is] is the exact opposite of that: creating a lot of signals that synchronise and create something meaningful that can be heard. It’s the opposite of having one big moment when you spend a lot of money.” “Today, virality and cut-through on the internet is achievable, but building community and lasting cultural moments that live on is more important,” said another attendee. “Content should capture the atmosphere of the event, the moment — whatever you’ve created — to involve a much greater audience. Give them something to connect with.” explore more: https://lnkd.in/gAfRWe4E #fashionweek #metaverse #fashion #web3 #crypto #btc

Just finished absorbing some thought-provoking insights from the #SXSW keynotes on the future of sustainable fashion. The discussions around collaboration, sustainability, and brand identity truly struck a chord with me, especially as the founder of YUS NYC Marketplace. We're committed to reshaping the fashion industry by championing ethical and sustainable brands. The keynote on 'The Power of Collaborations for a Sustainable Fashion Future' with Chris Kerston, Ingrid Lung, Amanda Russell, and Matthew Wallace emphasized the importance of collective action in driving positive change. It's not just about individual brands, but rather the power of partnerships and alliances to create a more sustainable ecosystem. That was great to hear, especially as my brand, Bela Brand, works with small suppliers. Additionally, 'Beyond the Bottom Line: The Role of Sustainability for Your Brand's Growth' highlighted the significance of aligning business practices with environmental and social responsibility. At YUS NYC, we're constantly striving to integrate sustainability into every aspect of our platform, from product sourcing to customer engagement. Lastly, 'The Importance of Brand World Creation' with Maghan McDowell and Alice Yu highlighted the importance of authentic storytelling and brand identity. We believe that by fostering a strong brand narrative rooted in sustainability, we can connect with consumers on a deeper level. Excited to implement these insights into our platform to further advance the cause of ethical and sustainable fashion. Stay tuned for some exciting collaborations and initiatives from YUS NYC Marketplace! #SustainableFashion #YUSMarketplace #CollaborationForChange

Fashion Industry Strategy & Commercial Leader Advising Emerging Designers, Independent Brands, Specialty Retailers & Fashion Tech on GTM, Strategy, Commercial, Partnerships, Events | ex VP-Coterie, Founder-Favors
Copenhagen fashion week is the best of the best. It’s the feel-good fashion week that authentically merges an immense amount of emerging talent with sustainability, inclusivity and community. It’s been a few years since I’ve personally been, but from an overall experiential standpoint - I can attest to the experience really being unmatched. You feel the energy of CPHFW throughout the entire city. They recently wrapped the SS25 season and beyond being FULL of talent (more posts on that later), they continue to serve as an incredible sustainability leader. What initiated as a Sustainability Action Plan in 2020, has evolved into what is now a template and source of inspiration for other fashion weeks and organizers. They are considered global leaders in sustainability, when it comes to organizers’ responsibility. Since January of ‘23 all CPHFW brands participating in official shows and presentations on the schedule have to meet or exceed a clearly communicated set of minimum Sustainability Requirements. The framework is in place in order to establish common language and expectation benchmarks around the actions of businesses focused on positive environmental and social impact. The Sustainability Requirements were created by considering already-existing guidelines, standards and certifications. With that said, brands that already adhere to these existing certifications should find it very approachable to comply the CPHFW requirements. Given the nature of industry and policy developments, the standards have been updated starting summer of 2025. The requirements covers six areas including Strategic direction, Design, Smart materials choices, Working conditions, Consumer engagement, Showcase. Check out the gallery here to review the guidelines and find even more on the CPHFW website. ✨Repost to share in the celebration of these efforts and advancements by Copenhagen Fashion Week (Cecilie Thorsmark and team) and its super talented participating brands! 〰️ Follow for insightful fashion industry analysis and key updates on independent brands and retailers, sustainability, emerging designers, and industry innovations. #fashion #fashionnews #fashionweek #copenhagenfashionweek #sustainability #sustainabilitynews #fashionsustainability #cphfw

Global & Strategic Communications Expert | Author of "The Global Communications Toolkit" | Executive Coach & Writing Trainer | Former Foreign Correspondent | Visiting Professor of International Journalism
What an enlightening evening it was, as I attended the New York Fashion Week “Conscious Fashion” event. Organized by Britta Cabanos, Director of Inside Fashion Design & The Conscious Fashion Design Academy, the event brought together a range of speakers from the frontlines of socially-conscious creativity and fashion: Nova Lorraine, Catherine Roggero-Lovisi, Ajay Shrivastav and Siamanda Chege. (Disclaimer: I’m now assisting Chege as Global Communications Advisor to her #SocialEnterprise in #Kenya, Beberavi Collections.) Yet, as I listened to each speaker, I couldn’t help but silently wonder: “How effectively do you prove your impact?” With all due respect, it’s not enough to describe good deeds and meaningful initiatives, if you hope to persuade a smart-but-skeptical audience. So, how well do you illuminate your true results – and back it up with concrete, credible, even verifiable evidence? That’s why I advocate the need for evidence-driven #StrategicStorytelling – and why my partner, Peter McLaughlin, and I offer clients specialties like #SustainabilityStorytelling, #ESGStorytelling and #SDGStorytelling. Contact us if you’d like a free, 30-minute Consultation on how to publicly prove your organization’s impact, more persuasively. Photographed below (by me): Britta Cabanos introduces guest-speaker Catherine Roggero-Lovisi.

Fashion Director at PAP Magazine I Founder @Balcone I Fashion Stylist and Creative Consultant I Entrepreneur
Why isn't anyone talking about CPHFW (Copenhagen Fashion Week), and why does it deserve a bigger spotlight? 💡📝 There are four major #FashionWeeks: London, New York, Milan, and Paris. While London and New York are notable, Milan and Paris often steal the show. Beyond these, there are secondary fashion weeks, such as Tokyo, Seoul, and Sydney etc. But why does Copenhagen hold a significant position and have the potential to grow bigger? 🙌🏼 #EmergingBrands & #IndependentDesigners In addition to international labels like Acne Studios and Han Kjøbenhavn there are many other successful Nordic brands, such as GANNI, Saks Potts, and By Malene Birger, which are gaining more recognition and a healthy amount of hype. ✨ #SustainabilityFocus Copenhagen Fashion Week stands out as the most sustainable fashion week, with many Danish brands already focused on sustainability. 📌 #OrganicAttention It attracts the attention of fashion insiders, editors, buyers, influencers, and journalists, creating a natural buzz. Unlike other secondary fashion weeks that invest heavily in attracting fashion insiders, #CopenhagenFashionWeek naturally draws the right crowd, which is a big PR win. Brands showcased at CPHFW include Nicklas Skovgaard, Division, Rolf Ekroth, Stamm, Berner Kühl, A. Rouge Hove, Rabens Saloner, Remain, Caro Editions, and more. I believe CPHFW is quite niche yet commercially attractive, making it a significant player in the fashion industry. There’s still time but, could Copenhagen Fashion Week be the next big thing in fashion? #FashionStylist #StylistNotes #CPHFW #Fashion #EmergingBrands #EmergingFashion #UpandComingBrands
