I love these examples and couldn't agree more that design thinking can benefit so many parts of your organization. I'd say this is a big reason for the longevity and success of our partnerships over the years. At Aero Interactive we tend to initially engage with orgs on their product or website design needs, but find ourselves advising on other business needs that come up organically. Understanding that user experience design goes far beyond the confines of a screen is crucial. It's about crafting an exceptional customer journey across every touchpoint. At Aero, we don't just start with the design of a digital product; we strategize around the entire customer experience journey. From the initial interaction with our digital platforms—be it through a landing page, our website, or engaging videos—to nurturing prospects into becoming loyal customers and advocates of our digital products. Our approach is rooted in a deep understanding of target audiences and the transformative paths we envision for them. This holistic strategy ensures that every digital interaction is not only seamless but also deeply resonant with users' needs and expectations. Honestly with this being such a natural part of the job, it's hard to remember every conversation, but here are a few examples of questions that have come up and solutions we've provided as a design partner: ➝ How can we better convey the value of our brand to our target audience and get them to that "aha" moment that makes users come back to our digital product? ➝ How can we take our clients on a cohesive journey with the business not just inside the digital product but across all touchpoints? ➝ What processes does our internal team find themselves repeating that could be designed and automated for efficiency?

Design is embedded into everything we do, even if we don’t realize it. The skills and creative problem solving that designers use can be applied to multiple roles and areas. Have any designers on here taken a different or adjacent role to design? Or came from a totally different discipline?

Interesting career moves I've seen: → Designer > Founder → VP of Design > Senior IC → Head of Design > Head of People → Head of Design > Director of Product → Senior Design Director > Design Partner → Director of Design > Director of Engineering There's so much opportunity to utilise design experience in other areas of the business. Design is one of the only disciplines where design can benefit every part of an organisation. Here's to designers moving into other disciplines, if that is your calling.

Has any designer ever said that? Because I actually do! 3 moments in my career where I loved seeing engineers design: 1. 🖼️ I give engineers paper and pens – or a whiteboard. No engineer needs to be Picasso (believe me, some have hidden talents!), but everyone can draw arrows and boxes. I let them brainstorm new features and solutions with me. 2. 📱 "Hey Tabea, thank you for working on that new screen, but you know, technically, it would also be possible to do it like this; what do you think? Would that work better and look good?" This was an engineer making a suggestion. I love it when engineers see creative possibilities designers might not have heard of. 3. 🤹♂️ I play improv theater with the engineers to understand a user journey. Everyone participates and sees the pain points and user needs directly in front of them. Also, it's fun! Now, what do you think? What, how, and when should engineers design? I found it intriguing to come across a video whose title already made me reflect: should we really be questioning the role of design today? Just the act of framing it as "the role of design" seems to suggest that there is a single scope of thought to be followed. Shouldn't we, instead, be questioning our own actions, approaches, and the objects we bring into the world? I agree that it is important to give more value to designers and also that learning and applying design thinking is not as simple as it seems. While I understand the importance of being generalists, we must direct our intentions toward envisioning a world rooted in collectivity, participation, and the construction of our own identity.
