A cut-off level is an index used to show if the cumulative amount of traces of a drug metabolite(s) fall at or below/above the threshold range to yield a negative/positive test result. Urine, oral fluid, and hair drug specimens are examples used with cutoff levels that vary between the initial screen and confirmation tests to quantify the difference in the test results. Ever wondered how long drugs stay in your body?💡 The answer isn't all that straightforward and varies based on factors including the drug type, usage amount, duration of use, and individual body responses. Urine tests, the most common form of drug testing, can detect substances from a few hours to several days after use, while hair testing yields results for much longer. Understanding these factors is key to interpreting test results accurately, which is why you need guidance from experts like the ones we have at Clarity Labs. We will help you navigate health and safety with knowledge. Call us today or visit our website to view our full list of services! #DrugFacts #ClarityLabsInsight

Expert report levels explained. When we issue an expert report for hair drug testing, the results table shows the levels of drug and / or metabolite detected in the hair sample. But what do these levels mean and how are they calculated? Results from positive samples are collated, ordered numerically and divided into three ranges. The low range covers the lowest 25% of the data, the high range covers the highest 25% and the middle 50% makes up the medium range. The ranges applied are drug-specific and differ between drugs so it's important to note the range for a drug should not be directly compared with another. Want to learn more? 🔬 Discovering the Pros and Cons of Urine Testing: Our Expert Opinion 🔬 When it comes to urine testing, there are certainly advantages worth considering. With our extended panel of substances, we can detect a wide range of drugs, enabling a comprehensive assessment of an individual's substance use. Additionally, urine testing offers an extended window of detection, allowing for a longer time frame of substance detection compared to other methods. However, it's important to address the drawbacks as well. Urine testing requires additional facilities to collect and analyse samples, which may pose logistical challenges for some organisations. Furthermore, it should be noted that urine testing is a more invasive method, as it requires the collection of a urine sample. We understand the sensitivity and privacy concerns this may raise for individuals. Lastly, while we have implemented stringent protocols to minimise the risk, there is a slight possibility of adulteration in urine samples. This is something we continuously monitor and take necessary precautions to address, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our testing process. #DrugTesting #UrineTesting #Screen4ExpertOpinion #GoldStandard

Diluted urine specimens make it difficult to determine if the participant is using drugs, as they may provide inconclusive results. If a sample is too dilute, the lab will deem the sample inconclusive and require a new sample be collected. Whether a candidate and/or current employee had inadvertently or deliberately affected the outcome, an employer, on advice from the lab or Medical Review Officer, can request the administration of a second test to collaborate, or dispute, the results of the initial test. It’s important that testing participants restrict their fluid intake 2 hours before their appointment to ensure that their specimen concentration is within normal limits.
