As licensed architects with over 20 years of experience in the Monterey Peninsula and beyond, we understand the magic of creating something from nothing. My professor, Zaha Hadid, once critiqued my university project, which featured dry ice flowing over buildings resembling shards of cracking ice, by asking, “Who do you think you are, a magician?” Over time, I’ve come to embrace that sentiment. As artists, designers, and architects, it indeed takes a touch of magic to envision what could be. Whether designing compact tiny houses or large-scale urban master plans, our challenge is to persuade others of the beautiful potential within our proposals. While technical aspects like plans, permits, structural design, and utilities are crucial, it’s the initial vision and passion that bring projects to life. As "building magicians," our role is to conjure this vision. At Ecologic Architects, we draw inspiration from collaborating with our clients, the project site, and the design team.
