I hear that Governor Walz is at the Minnesota State Fair today, and his first stop was getting a Pork Chop on a Stick. I walked past that food vendor on my way out of the fair yesterday and it smelled sooooo good! I am partial to the Pork Schnitzel sandwich, but sometimes your food choice depends on how long the line is. 🐖 I had the opportunity to represent the cannabis industry 2 times at the fair this year. Both were educational sessions, but there was no shortage of requests for samples or something to purchase. After spending 12 hours chatting with hundreds of fair-goers, here are my biggest takeaways: 🍹 - People want cannabis beverages served at the fair. They don't want alcohol. You can buy a beer at 8am and keep drinking all day, but you can't have 1 canna beverage. 👵 - The mature crowd LOVES CBD cream and gummies! They are sick and tired of big pharma pushing crap meds and have found that they can get wonderful relief from pain, sore muscles, bruising, sleep issues, etc...from it. They are educated and understand they are not getting high from CBD, just feeling better. 🍦 - People want samples! They want to try gummies, and beverages, and topicals. They want to buy it too. 🌽 - Everyone agrees that MN is taking such a long time to roll out the adult-use market. They continue to travel to other states to purchase higher dose products, and when I was unable to give a good answer to "When can I buy flower here in MN?", they were frustrated. 🎡 - I got many "Thank you for fighting the good fight!" comments. People are frustrated by the lack of federal legalization and understand this slow state by state roll-out, without the federal government's approval, perpetuates the prohibition mindset. 🚜 - Minnesotans LOVE growing! Its easy to know that. MN is a huge agriculture state. Many people shared pictures of their home grows with much pride. 💚 Educating and advocating for the cannabis industry at such a prominent event has been a valuable opportunity to promote awareness and foster acceptance. Here's to continued efforts in normalizing cannabis and addressing the evolving needs of Minnesota residents! 🌿🎡🌽

#SupplysideEast day 1 is a wrap and I'm at Weehawken for the Whatsup with Supps networking event overlooking a beautiful view of Manhattan as the sun sets. First time back at SSE in almost 10 years when they last had the show in NYC at the Javitz center. I like these smaller shows (250 booths is small compared to 7000 exhibitors at a medical device tradeshow we attended last year) as it gives the opportunity to have a longer, fruitful discussion with exhibitors and attendees. A few booths I visited were asking about GRAS yet their commodity ingredient is considered GRAS. Buyers are asking them for GRAS proof even though it may not be required because the ingredient meets the definition of being GRAS. So, it got me thinking about something for ingredient suppliers to consider. GRAS as a sales tool or sales collateral? More and more buyers are asking raw material suppliers (particularly those based in Asia) to demonstrate their ingredient is GRAS (whether its self affirmed or has received a GRAS notice of no questions or comments from FDA and listed in the GRN inventory). GRAS has become a buzz word for upper management ( they may not even know what it stands for). It’s amazing to see the largest retailer in Canada dedicate a two-week campaign to highlight the quality and distinctiveness of craft cannabis. I'm proud that Kronic Relief had the opportunity to be part of this initiative! From Oct 1 - Oct 14, Canna Cabana locations across Ontario showcased an entire window display dedicated to craft producers from around the country. “Explore Craft” signage and screen displays took centre stage, bringing focus to small, craft producers like us. 🙌 This kind of brand awareness is invaluable for three key reasons: 1️. Educating Consumers: Many consumers and even some budtenders still don’t know the difference between mass-produced and craft cannabis. This campaign helps shine a light on the artisanal approach, the care in cultivation, and the superior quality that defines craft producers like Kronic. 2️. Supporting Small Producers: With big players dominating the market, it’s vital that smaller craft brands get a platform to compete. This exposure levels the playing field, allowing customers to connect with our unique stories, strains, and values. 3️. Building Long-Term Relationships: Collaborating with retailers in this way allowed us to connect directly with both consumers and store teams, building some level of loyalty and trust that extends well beyond the campaign itself.
