On this occasion of the International Day of Human Fraternity, we celebrate the spirit of mutual respect and solidarity that unites us as one human family. From now on, these values are put to the test. Our world in general and in particular the DRC is marked by divisions, conflicts and inequalities. Discrimination is endemic and height. We must unite to protect/flank/fortify and enforce the rights, values, human principles, combat hate speech/discussion and violent extremism and repel those who take advantage of fear/fright/phobia/panic/terror. Together, let us reaffirm/reconfirm our commitment to bridging gaps, fostering religious understanding and coexistence between people of all cultures and backgrounds the beliefs. When we are united, we hope for all: prosperity, union, peace, spiritual, jurisprudence of peace and happiness.

International organisations like UN are funded by donor countries and are under an unwritten obligation to protect interests of these countries even though it may be against the requirements of conflict resolution. So what can be done to give these ‘noble’ organisations some ‘teeth’ ? Funding - First is to seek independent funding which isn’t based on handouts of any country. Revenue generation is through business and thus UN needs its own businesses. Army - Once funding is taken care of, there is a need of ‘power’ to enforce the rule - thus an international army which has the authority to operate in global conflict zones without ‘consent of the nation’. Mandate - ‘Peace keeping’ is too ideal a mandate. ‘Responsibility to Protect’ needs to take over. International Order - With independent funding, an international army and mandate to protect, the bigger aims of humanity which are above realpolitik or geopolitic can be achieved. Currently with an ever increasing population and limited resources of earth, the options being exercised are to protect own interest only. Humanity needs to grow above this.
Sunday is the International Day of Human Fraternity. “We must come together to protect and uphold human rights, combat hate speech and violent extremism, and push back against those who profit from fear,” said United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. “Let us reaffirm our commitment to bridging divides, fostering religious understanding and cooperation among people of all cultures and beliefs.” On Human Fraternity Day and every day, each of us can stand up for interfaith harmony and mutual respect in a spirit of peace and solidarity. https://lnkd.in/e2Zw7CQh

1.5.2024 DAY OF DIALOGUE Two sides of a coin Express beliefs and reasons Argue? Agree? Learn. 1.4.24 mhq #haikuchallenge24 Did you know we have a National Day of Dialogue dedicated to finding common ground, building a more empathetic society to overcome hate and division? https://lnkd.in/dfyDQ5kT. As Tacoma’s Peace Laureate, my lessons from Oslo and a lifetime of work conclude that peace making depends on each person’s commitment as well as large scale efforts to resolve the root causes of injustices, violence and armed conflict. Sign the Pledge: I recognize that the current state of division in America is at a dangerous level and that I can play an active role to change it for the better. I pledge to do what I can to improve the current tone of political conversation in my community. When I encounter disagreements with others, I pledge to listen first to understand the perspectives of those I disagree with, and to be an example of constructive dialogue whenever possible. Most importantly, I pledge to see those I disagree with as fellow citizens, and treat them with the same dignity and respect I want for myself.

Today marks the International Day of Non-Violence, a day dedicated to promoting peace and understanding in a world too often marked by conflict and aggression. As we reflect on this significant occasion, we cannot ignore the ongoing wars that plague various regions, such as the turmoil in Ukraine and the persistent violence in the Middle East. These conflicts not only take countless lives but also create a cycle of hatred and retribution that affects generations. The rise of violence globally—be it through armed conflict, social unrest, or systemic inequality—challenges our collective humanity. On this day, we are reminded of the importance of dialogue, compassion, and advocacy for peaceful resolutions. Let us unite in our efforts to foster a culture of non-violence, understanding, and respect for all, striving for a world where peace prevails over conflict. @alysosalert
