In interviews, we often get asked whether we prefer working independently or as part of a team. It's an interesting question because it’s an opportunity to highlight how you approach challenges and adapt to different work environments. I love collaborating and working with people, as I did in the Order Processing Specialist role at Jumia. Whether coordinating with different teams to improve shipping accuracy or brainstorming solutions to improve operational efficiency, teamwork made it all possible. There's something energizing about sharing ideas and tackling challenges together. 👥➡️💼 But I also know I’m incredibly effective working independently, as I demonstrated during my time as an IT Support Assistant at Elite Aviation. Whether it was troubleshooting system issues or streamlining IT processes, I didn’t need anyone hovering over me to get things done.  💪 I’m self-driven and thrive in environments where I can take initiative and deliver results. To me, the key is balance. ⚖️ Success is knowing when to collaborate and when to take ownership, keeping an open mind, and bringing others in when needed. My first job was as a hostess/cashier, and I absolutely loved it.From meeting new people to experiencing different cultures, it was a whirlwind of excitement. I’m naturally warm and hospitable, so this role was a perfect fit. And let’s not forget the thrill of my first paycheck Maan!!!🙌 Finally, I could cover my own bills, do some shopping for my place, and feel that sweet independence. You know😀 As a kid, I dreamed of becoming an air hostess, but landing a job as a hotel hostess turned out to be just as amazing. Here are some fun lessons I picked up from my very first job: 1. People Skills: I learned how to connect with different guests and really listen. 2. Cultural Awareness: Meeting people from all walks of life opened my eyes to new perspectives. 3. Problem-Solving: I quickly learned how to handle surprises with a smile. 4. Teamwork: A great team makes the work fun and effortless. 5. Work Ethic: Being responsible and punctual became second nature. 6. Customer Service: Sometimes, a simple kind word can turn someone’s day around.
