VidCon tips if this is your first time! It’s an intense week of overlapping panels, parties, and endless trips around the Anaheim convention center, so here are my suggestions for getting the most of your trip: 1️⃣ Do NOT bring a backpack, unless it’s a clear one. The level of security getting into the convention center is similar to what you’d expect going to a concert or sports game. Bags should be no larger than 12 x 12 or clear. Organizers also hand out VidCon drawstring bags when you pick up your badge, which you can use throughout the week. 2️⃣ Wear sneakers. The Anaheim Convention Center is the biggest convention center on the West Coast. AI tells me 1,800,000 square feet is roughly the size of 32 NFL football fields — I don’t have time to fact check that but, trust me, that’s a lot of walking. 3️⃣ Bring a protein bar. The lunch options are limited and the food truck lines are long. So if you don’t want to waste time hunting for food, bring snacks to get you through the day! 4️⃣ Book the person. Not the panel. (Thanks for the directive Michael (Mikey) Glazer) Prioritize who you want to meet, whether that’s platform reps, creators or brand marketer, and research where they’ll be. Most people are fairly receptive to networking right before or after their panels. 5️⃣ I’m borrowing this one from VidCon’s programming director: Jacques Keyser Keyser “Hotel Bars are gold mines for networking, in the case of VidCon, The Hilton & The Marriott hotels are the spots to meet and network with other industry attendees.” The Hilton also has a Starbucks in the lobby that’s open from 6am to 4pm. Do not try sneaking into the Hyatt lounges, it won’t work.

Good Morning! Who starts their day with a cup of coffee? (Raise your hand) Starting my day with coffee is one way I center myself. Coffee is BIG business! When I travel, I visit the local coffee shops as a way to understand the community and support the local economy (check out #iowacoffeeshoptour on FB...). As of 2022 according to coffeeaffection.com there were over 65,410 coffee shops in the US with revenues over $90million! This morning I am meeting for a virtual coffee with a person looking to #Connect to #Spark some ideas. We would love to make this an open invitation to others who are looking to have a thought partner. Message me if you are interested in joining us. This is a standing virtual coffee date -BYOC (Bring Your Own Coffee) and no other cost. When I first started as a facilitator over 10 years ago, I was so excited to begin using my new learned skills. However, I was not sure how to approach people with what I had to offer. I struggled to know how much to charge when I did find someone. Then it came to being assured my design would be worth their investment. In Max McKeown's, "Adaptability" offers the advice to go out and do and learn from mistakes. Instead of going back to square one, learn and move forward. I did a lot of that and shared those learnings while becoming a ToP Certified Facilitator. However, I found my folks, eventually, who could help take my vision for a client and help ground it in a feasible plan. Let me know if you would like to join our coffee hour (2nd Tuesday at 7:30am CST) to have your group of folks to bounce ideas off, share the vulnerable safe space where we honestly put out what might not be working, and receive openingly what might be some options moving forward. No need to go back to "square one" - let's move forward together supporting one another. Off to fill up my cup! #Connect_Spark_Ignite #LifeBeginsAfterCoffee #togetherwearebetter

If you want to enhance the experience at your business event, start by promoting 1-on-1 conversations and group discussions. For example, icebreakers pave the way for genuine conversations, shifting away from generic small talk to deep, meaningful exchanges. Interactive workshops elevate engagement by encouraging hands-on participation, while unconventional event locations, from rooftop gardens to art galleries, provide refreshing environments that spur organic interactions. #eventmanagement #networkingevents #icebreakers #networkingforwomen

🤼 Crowd Management: More Than Just Numbers 🤼 Managing large crowds at campus events isn’t just about getting people to show up—it’s about ensuring everyone has a seamless, engaging, and safe experience. At Romulus, we take crowd management seriously because the success of an event depends on how well the flow of people is handled. Some things that have helped us in the past when planning events are: Pre-event planning: We map out key areas like entry points, exits, and high-traffic zones to ensure smooth navigation for attendees. Engagement zones: Creating areas for meaningful interaction, whether through games, product demos, or giveaways, keeps the crowd engaged instead of just wandering. Signage & communication: Clear, strategically placed signs, along with digital alerts or announcements, ensure people know where to go and what’s happening next. Flow control: Monitoring crowd movement in real-time allows us to make quick adjustments, avoiding congestion and enhancing safety. Security and accessibility: Ensuring the event is secure and accessible to everyone helps prevent issues and makes the event welcoming for all. A successful event is about creating a positive experience that keeps people coming back. What are some of your top strategies for managing large crowds at events? #EventStrategy #CrowdManagement #CampusMarketing #MarketingTips #EventPlanning #Romulus

All about conferences! 🧱 Bricks may be stronger than sticks, but without the right mortar, they can't build a lasting structure. Too many events are like a brick wall without mortar—full of impressive, ornate pieces, but lacking the connections that hold everything together. People might be drawn to the 'bricks,' but it's the 'mortar' that creates a cohesive experience. So, what’s the mortar of your events? Is it the moments between sessions—your MC, entertainment, activations, coffee breaks, or conversation opportunities? These are the times when attendees are most likely to disengage, mentally or physically. Focus on these moments to build an event that stands strong. #EventPlanning #MeetingDesign #ExperienceJourney
