Often time, guilt and shame can be confused with each other. They are very different but they are also best friends. Guilt arises as a result of some action we took (or did not take). We may feel regret over having done something bad. Sometimes feeling guilty shows emotional progress, but focusing on your guilt too long can eventually lead to shame.
