EBSA – Australia The Seafarers Project in Melbourne draws inspiration from the Birrarung-Yarra River and the site's rich maritime history. EBSA is proud to have contributed to this landmark development with our award-winning MP2 Opposed Opening Louvre system (MP-FL-OP). Developed over two years in close collaboration with our client, the MP-FL-OP was engineered to meet specific project requirements, including maintaining unobstructed views when open. Addressing challenges such as sightline obstruction and water ingress, we created an innovative solution featuring advanced blade movement and a high water rating. Drawing on insights from previous earthquake testing, the drive system was refined to allow for simultaneous or independent operation of the top and bottom blades. The result: 111 custom-designed louvres that perfectly align with the project's functional and aesthetic needs. Tested to the highest standards, the MP2 continues to set new benchmarks in louvre performance, combining innovative design with exceptional functionality. We are thrilled to see our system integrated into this transformative precinct, which is set to redefine Melbourne’s riverfront. #makingbuildingsbreathe #awardwinninglouvres #awardwinning #innovation #smokerelief #naturalventilation #buildingsaustralia #constructionaustralia #constructionnewzealand #schneiderlouvres #constructioncanada #designsolutions #louvres #windowlouvres #windowautomation #commercialbuildings #sustainabledesigns

🌍 The Art of Architecture, Innovation, and Sustainability 🌿 Great architecture is more than just building structures—it’s about shaping experiences and creating legacies that harmonize with the environment. In my recent project in Odessa-Illichivsk, Ukraine, I had the privilege of crafting a visionary sea-view development along the stunning Black Sea coast. This organic masterpiece includes villas, sport facilities, a marina with top-tier amenities, and a luxurious hotel seamlessly integrated into the marina. Every villa is designed to offer breathtaking sea views, while all roads are thoughtfully placed underground to preserve the natural beauty and foster sustainability. By combining architecture, innovation, and sustainability, this project isn’t just a development—it’s a statement of excellence. It exemplifies how thoughtful design can enhance both functionality and environmental harmony, delivering value to investors, communities, and future generations. I am excited to collaborate with companies, construction firms, and visionaries who are ready to elevate their projects into world-class achievements. Let’s create something extraordinary together! Eastern Construction marketing team toured the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) this past month, showcasing the beauty, strength, and calming presence of mass timber. The design joint venture with ZAS Architects + Interiors and Bucholz McEvoy Architects exemplifies modern construction as a blend with nature, offering both innovation and timeless appeal. I am delighted to showcase the exceptional heritage preservation and adaptive reuse at Capella Sydney. The transformation of the Department of Education Building on Bridge Street into Capella Sydney's luxurious hotel exemplifies a successful merger of heritage conservation and contemporary design. Historical Context: The Department of Education Building, constructed between 1912-1915 and 1930 and designed by architect George McRae, holds significant historical importance. Its restoration and conversion into Capella Sydney pays homage to its heritage significance, retaining key historic spaces like the original marble-clad foyers and the Minister’s Boardroom with its intricately carved timber joinery. Key Achievements in Heritage Preservation: ✅ Capella Sydney's restoration efforts, spearheaded by Urbis, Essence Project Management, and Principle Contractors, spanned over seven years and focused on refurbishing the heritage-listed building. The emphasis was on retaining key features such as the sandstone and marble elements. Collaborating closely with expert craftsmen, Make Architects addressed challenges like restoring and upgrading the heritage marble staircases. They introduced new marble inserts, brass trims, and glass balustrades that seamlessly integrated with the existing structures. ✅ Make Architects sympathetic four-storey, set back extension features fluted fins and curved glass corners, harmoniously integrating with the historic exterior while respecting the building's architectural integrity. ✅ Interpretation led by Freeman Ryan Design and UAP Public arts installation communicates the building's history and past uses, enhancing the guest experience and fostering a deeper appreciation for its heritage. Why It Matters: ✅ Adaptive reuse revitalises heritage buildings, ensuring their continued relevance and use in contemporary times, contributing to sustainable urban development. ✅ Government legislation encourages the retention and reuse of heritage items, promoting sustainable development practices that honour their historical context. ✅ Capella Sydney serves as an example of responsible heritage management, showcasing the value of adaptive reuse in enriching cultural heritage and fostering sustainable urban growth. Implications for Future Projects: ✅ The success of Capella Sydney underscores the importance of balancing heritage preservation with modern needs in urban development projects. ✅ Thoughtful interpretation and preservation of historic elements in future projects can deepen public understanding and appreciation of cultural heritage. ✅ Projects like Capella Sydney redefine the boundaries of heritage conservation and architectural innovation by honouring the past while embracing the future. © Timothy Kaye 🔗#HeritagePreservation #Architecture #CapellaSydney #HistoricRestoration

The regeneration of Praça de Paço de Rei is part of an urban transformation programme in which sustainability and quality of life play a key role. This development is an example of contemporary mixed-use urban regeneration. This project covers an area of 91,827 m², resulting in the creation of 22 plots to house 493 occupancy units. The intervention is the result of an execution unit that has evolved into a reparcelling project, encompassing not only urbanisation works but also meticulous urban design. The main aim is to reorganise and revitalise a previously unqualified area, giving it a new identity and a qualified residential dynamic supported by commerce and services.
