This stunning transformation at 1012 N Rampart St in New Orleans was completed by Perle Construction. Perle expertly renovated a once-gutted commercial space into a vibrant restaurant, American Townhouse. Thanks to our guidance on Historic Tax Credits, they secured federal credits, as well as state credits, making this restoration not only a nod to history but also a financially savvy move. Crystal Cove’s historic cottages are among the most in-demand overnight stays in the State Parks system, a place tucked in coves and cliffs, wedged between Laguna Beach and Newport Beach. Staying at one of the coveted cottages is like taking a travel trip back in time. Painstaking detail has gone into ensuring the cottages represent when they were built between the 1930s and 1950s, a bygone era when “coveites” enjoyed a laid-back lifestyle in the cobbled-together collection of homes, many built from wood that washed ashore. Four newly-restored cottages became available to reserve starting Dec. 23. A stay at one of the quaint beachfront homes isn’t about luxury, but about a unique experience that harkens back to a simpler time. The four cottages are part of the $55 million North Beach restoration that is years in the making. Eight of the restored cottages were opened to the public in 2023, and another five more, including a duplex making a total of six units, are expected to be released in about a year. At one point in the late 1990s, a luxury hotel was planned to replace the beachfront homes, but opponents squashed the development proposal, making way for the stretch to become a state park. We are so excited to see the Royalton Hotel listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and to see the "Residential Hotels in Chicago 1910-1930" National Register Multiple Property Documentation (MPD) we prepared back in 2015-2016 put into action! It was once nearly impossible to get any of Chicago's many historic apartment hotels listed in the National Register, a requirement for seeking federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits. Ramsey Historic Consultants, Inc. prepared the Residential Hotels in Chicago MPD which was approved by the National Park Service in 2016. This MPD now makes it easier for the National Park Service to recognize this historic Chicago building type and to renovate these historic apartment hotels using federal and state HTCs. #ramseyhistoric #historictaxcredits #historicpreservation
