Together, the nation’s top 100 charities received nearly $64 billion in private donations in their most recently reported fiscal year, a 4% annual increase. That bested the 2% increase in all charitable giving among the country’s two million nonprofits, according to the Giving USA Foundation, underscoring the clout of brand names in the not-for-profit sector. Indeed, gifts to the Forbes 100 alone amounted to one-ninth of all charitable giving. The cutoff for this year’s list—No.100—was $194 million in donations, up from $186 million in 2023. In the span of 4 years, Maine Needs has grown from a Facebook group to a community donation center where thousands of you have gathered to volunteer, donate and help meet the basic material needs of your neighbors statewide. You've given of your time, energy and talents to raise funds in incredibly creative & generous ways. You've grown this community and sustained this work. Our growth has always been organic; proof that social media & word of mouth are powerful tools. We've asked you to contribute in any way you can and it's kept our efforts in motion. Now we're asking you to look into the future with us and invest in your belief in this community. Today we're launching our Capacity Campaign - a viral fundraiser to support the continued growth of Maine Needs. Early next year, we're moving into a 16,000 square foot space where we can welcome more volunteers, accept more donations (& store off-season goods!), host fundraisers & events for other non-profits, and continue building a safety net for people all across Maine. Maine Needs is striving to build a community where everyone helps and no one goes without. So we're asking for your help, so that we can all ensure that no one has to go without the basics. We hope to raise enough funds to not only cover overhead & operational costs, but to keep the space STOCKED in the years ahead so that when requests come in, we can ALWAYS fill them. As you see our posts for this campaign pop up, please share them! Please talk to the people in your life about why this community effort is so important. That 42% of Maine households cannot afford the daily basics. And that together we've sent nearly a million items to individuals and families in Maine at no cost. That with their support, their neighbors won't have to decide between buying groceries or new underwear. We all have the same basic needs & when we work together, we strengthen the community we share. GIVE TODAY and make tomorrow a little easier for someone else. https://lnkd.in/ep6QsVRU

@thinkclynk makes it so easy to support your community. Got a bunch of bottles & cans kicking around after your holiday gathering? Drop them at Clynk and donate the money to Maine Needs. 🍾There are a couple of ways to do this: Swing by Maine Needs & pick up some pre-tagged Clynk bags. Fill them up and drop off at your nearest Clynk. Log onto your Clynk account. Click on 'Donations'. You can choose to donate part or all of your current balance. You can also enroll to automatically convert your bags tags to Maine Needs tags. When you drop off using your own tags, the money from the bag will be automatically transferred into the Maine Needs account. It's a super simple, set-it-and-forget-it way to support our work all year round. In the past four years, you've raised $13,868 for Maine Needs through Clynk. it truly adds up! maineneeds.org
