Campbell Soup Co. to cut jobs at “inefficient sites” as part of restructuring plan. - In the food and beverage industry, US company Campbell Soup Co. is taking steps to optimize its supply chain. This includes closing a manufacturing plant in Tualatin, Oregon, and downsizing another in Jeffersonville, Indiana. As a result, 415 jobs will be impacted. The decision to close the Tualatin facility, acquired in 2017 as part of Campbell’s purchase of Pacific Foods, is driven by the need to invest in more efficient manufacturing and distribution processes to meet growing consumer demand. The plant currently produces Pacific’s organic soup, broth, and plant-based beverages. “The aging facility and inefficient nature of the site’s configuration... - https://lnkd.in/eaphic9p

Refrigerated Cold Storage Containers – Breweries & Distilleries (2 of 2) Positive experiences of working with clients and helping solve and improve their business operations is an amazing feeling. Most #refrigerated #beverage or #food related business operation needs are #temporary and require #mobility and flexibility. #mobile reefer containers offer an interim solution to accommodate temporary requirements. Below are a few more best practices learned and implemented. 1. Seasonal Demand Management: Many breweries and distilleries experience seasonal fluctuations in demand. Temporary #reefer containers offer an ideal solution for managing excess inventory during peak seasons. Products can be stored at the required temperature until demand picks up again, minimizing waste and optimizing production cycles. 2. Geographical Reach: With temporary reefer #containers , breweries and distilleries can extend their geographical reach without compromising product quality. Containers ensure consistent temperature control during #transportation , allowing businesses to supply their products to more distant markets. 3. Test Markets and Pop-Up Events: When exploring new cities or markets, #brewery and #distillery owners often want to test the waters before committing to permanent facilities. Temporary reefer containers facilitate the setup of pop-up events or temporary #distribution centers, helping businesses assess market potential without major long-term commitments. 4. Operational Agility: Utilizing temporary reefer containers grants breweries and distilleries operational agility. They can quickly adjust production levels and distribution strategies based on market feedback, changing consumer preferences, or unexpected circumstances. From reducing capital investments and enabling rapid market entry to optimizing distribution and managing seasonal demand, these #coldchain containers are a valuable tool for efficient growth and increased market presence.

Connecting Food and Agriculture for BETTER food. I help food brands become more regenerative and sustainable. Champion of regenerative agriculture/food systems. Ex Nestlé, Kellogg’s, GV-funded startup. CMO|GM|CEO
This clearance bottle of Huy Fong Sriracha is the canary in the coal mine. 🐦 I’ll explain. The evolution from start-up to established food company isn’t easy. I know this from experience. I had a little pang finding this bottle at Wal-Mart on a clearance endcap a couple of weeks ago. 😢 What now? Can Huy Fong Sriracha take back the #1 spot from Tabasco? I believe the answer is yes – but with a caveat. Why? 1. The formulation is unique. I’ve tried many alts – they aren’t the same 2. MAJOR brand love – people know (and love) the Huy Fong Rooster 3. They’ve already done the hard work of establishing retail distribution These are the key elements of a successful, investable food business. From the outside, it appears Huy Fong is losing distribution because of inconsistent supply. A fast path to a fix would be to sell the business and step away, so the original supplier would be willing to re-engage before more retail distribution is lost. Otherwise, there’s a longer path to re-establishing the pepper supply chain, then retail relationships, then re-gaining consumer mental availability in a much more crowded field. What do you think? LIAM DARMODY? I feel like you will have a POV as THE hot sauce connoisseur. 🌶 I wish I had bought a few more bottles. 🌶 🌶 🌶 Check out the article from Fortune in the comments. #fooddoinggood #food #startuplife I’m Nicole Balderas. Follow me for Food insights. I connect the dots from farmer to consumer to scale BETTER food.

🌶 Hot in The News This Week: Tabasco, Sriracha, and Supply Chains MIT Sloan Management Review recently published an article about McIlhenny Company and Huy Fong Foods, two hot sauce manufacturing giants, and how their contrasting paths "show that managing exposure on multiple fronts is essential". "Diversification on key dimensions drives value while reducing risk. Supply chain, products, customers, and channel are elements of diversification that led to McIllhenny’s rise alongside Huy Fong’s decline. Diversification is critical, but it has to be done right."
