Useful CPD & Inspiration Links to ICE Attributes ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Attribute 1 : Understanding and Practical Application of Engineering Sub-attribute 1.6 : Undertake the design, development and implementation of engineering solutions & evaluate their effectiveness in the contexts of the whole project life cycle Link : Modern methods of construction ( ICE Lunch and Learn Webinar) (https://lnkd.in/eYanFt7f) My thoughts and how you might use it : Awareness of implementation (construction in more familiar language) techniques amongst junior designers is a key skill to ensure that design output is buildable, but also safe, economic and sustainable. Thus it is linked to most other ICE attributes. This is one of the fastest changing areas of civil engineering with innovative techniques constantly being trialled, adapted and adopted. This is a handy 30 minute webinar looking at some of the emerging new methods.

National real estate consultancy and Nottingham Partners members, Naismiths, and leading independent construction and property consultancy, Edmond Shipway, are already seeing the benefits from their strategic partnership, which was first announced this spring. The partnership, designed to expand the service offering and regional presence of both firms, has already resulted in significant growth. One of the key advantages of the partnership is the complementary services each firm brings to the table. Naismiths’ well-established building surveying service is now available to Edmond Shipway’s clients, while Naismiths is benefiting from Edmond Shipway’s extensive experience in the mechanical and electrical (M&E) sector. Similarly, the expanded geographical reach and sector diversification allows clients to easily access a full suite of resources, ultimately streamlining the process for them. We are excited to share the release of the latest edition of the four SPON’S construction price books, a publication we’ve been proud editors of for over seventy years. This year marks the 150th anniversary edition of the Architects’ and Builders’ price book. Published by Taylor & Francis Group, the price books are comprehensive resources that cover a wide range of construction-related topics. They provide detailed market information and schedules of priced works, including approximate construction rates for various sectors such as architecture, building, mechanical and electrical, civil and highways, and external works and landscaping. They include around 20,000 prices for the most frequently specified construction items with many prices accompanied by labour constants and detailed build-ups. Each year, the data is meticulously updated and verified by our Construction Economics team using information from suppliers and market tenders, ensuring accuracy and relevance. Let’s revisit a past blog where we discuss three design considerations for modular central utility plants. Designing and building complex mechanical systems involves numerous factors. With Off-Site Construction (OSC), Epsilon can overcome unique challenges specific to modular building—challenges that ultimately improve the overall system with the use of OSC. Read the blog to explore three examples the Epsilon team routinely addresses: https://lnkd.in/ef9WazQq

Innovation in the construction industry often faces challenges due to various constraints. Over the past 6-7 years, we've been challenged to explore different methods of prefabricated panelized construction. Our recent collaboration with RedBuilt, LLC on 5 projects this year has yielded significant results. In fact, last week, we successfully completed the framing scope in just 8 days from start to finish on one project. This efficiency allowed us to commence masonry work and MEP’s just a week after beginning the framing process. Furthermore, by utilizing a surface mounting approach for our electric panels, we've managed to advance our transformer schedule by at least 3-4 weeks. This achievement is a game-changer for any contractor familiar with the industry's timelines. Watch this 30-second overview of the process to witness the impact of this innovative construction process!
