His footballing career started in 1995 at Newell's Old Boys, where he played until the year 2000. It was no surprise when Messi was announced as the men's Ballon d'Or winner, the award for the best footballer in the world for the 2022-23 season. His inspirational role in helping Argentina win the World Cup for the first time since 1986 almost guaranteed he would extend his record of award wins to eight - despite the best efforts of prolific Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. Cristiano Ronaldo, now plying his trade in Saudi Arabia, is Messi's closest rival with five, but, aged 38 and not even nominated in the 30-man shortlist, it is hard to see the Portugal forward challenging Messi's haul. All of us already said Argentina was gonna win, we all know how boxed up that squad was with Messi, Alvarez, Lautaro and all, compared with Saudi Arabia who had nobody. Worst of, Argentina scored 1st and we all thought we would watch another hattrick by Leo and Lautaro combined, we were already playing live games on Sporty Bet , handicap 4.5 and all so to gain more. I remember seeing the odds for Saudi Arabia to win, because they have locked the odds for Argentina win, as at 30mins. The odds for a Saudi Arabia win was over 100odds. All of us joked about it and weren't willing to play it, except a crackhead, who caught cruise with 1000. Prince Alex is my witness to this story. 2nd half came and the unthinkable happened, Saudi overturned the game. Funny enough, even when they were leading, the odds for them to win as at 80mins was still 2odds. We all know how it ended, they won, trolled Messi, dragged his life. Those guys became heroes, got gifts, a public Holiday was declared in their country, at least we all know how it went. Our tickets cut, Sporty use us buy new Benz, except the crackhead who dared to do the unthinkable, it was a huge surprise. Saudi didn't pass the group stage, Argentina became eventual champions, which made it even sweeter for Saudi, they were the only team that beat the champion.
