How to Celebrate Women’s History Month at Work It’s a time to celebrate women’s contributions to World history. This year’s theme is “Visionary Women: Champions of Peace & Nonviolence.” The theme honors “women who have led efforts to end war, violence, and injustice and pioneered the use of nonviolence to change society.” If you haven’t celebrated this month in the past, I encourage you to make this ritual part of your culture. It sends a clear message to potential and current team members that women are supported and will be treated well by the organization. Openly honoring women supports your efforts to attract and retain this group that makes up about 47% of the workforce (Department of Labor). In today’s tight labor market, it’s important to share your organization’s values – such as inclusion and equality – to differentiate from the competition. Article credit https://lnkd.in/d-DZm9Nh

As we celebrate Women's History Month, we'll hear from our teammates about the importance of advocating for all during Women's History Month. Today, we hear from Sabrina: "We can advocate for everyone celebrating Women's History by offering support and actively listening to each other. Many individuals have untold stories and experiences just waiting to be shared, often waiting for someone to initiate the conversation. By reaching out to others and providing a compassionate ear, we can create a space where every voice is valued – not just hearing but fully embracing and understanding what each person has to say. Creating an environment where we share our stories, achievements, and perspectives fosters trust and builds deeper connections. It's important to be fully present during conversations, seeking to learn from different perspectives and experiences. Active listeners allow us to truly understand and empathize with others, leading to more inclusive interactions. Through these meaningful exchanges, we can ensure that everyone feels included and valued in celebrating Women's History."

Leanin.org's recent report, "The State of Latinas In Corporate America," sheds light on the deeply concerning situation Latinas face in the corporate world. While this report specifically focuses on Latinas, it's important to recognize that Black women face similar challenges and barriers in the workplace. The data for both groups paints a picture of systemic inequality that demands urgent action. The findings remind us of the critical need for change and the importance of organizations like WOC Retail Alliance® in driving progress. Latinas, Black women, and other women of color continue to face significant obstacles to advancement, leadership opportunities, and equal pay. This is not only a matter of fairness and equality but also a crucial issue for the success and competitiveness of businesses across industries. At WOCRA, we aim to close these gaps and create a more inclusive and equitable future for women, with a specific focus on women of color who have been historically underrepresented and marginalized. We recognize that change requires a collective effort - we cannot do this alone. I call on our community, allies, and corporate leaders to join us in this vital work. We must challenge biases, transform hearts and minds, and build cultures that welcome and advance based on merit. It is not enough to simply acknowledge the problem; we must take active steps to dismantle the systemic barriers that have held women of color back for far too long. https://lnkd.in/gsX68WCg #latinasincorporateamerica #LatinaLeaders #BlackWomenInLeadership #closethegap #wocinretail #wocinbusiness #wocincorporateamerica McKinsey & Company #LeanIn

Celebrating Inclusively This Women's History Month As we embark on another Women's History Month, I was struck by an insightful Forbes article by Julie Kratz, "A Guide To Celebrating Inclusively for Women's History Month" It's a powerful reminder that true celebration extends beyond simply acknowledging past achievements. The article emphasizes the importance of intentionality and inclusivity in our approach, reminding us to amplify diverse voices and recognize the contributions of women from all backgrounds and experiences. This resonates deeply with me, not only as a woman in leadership but also as a human being. It's crucial to remember that true representation is essential, not just for symbolic reasons, but because it allows us to tap into the collective brilliance of diverse perspectives. This Women's History Month, I encourage everyone to actively seek out and celebrate the stories and contributions of women who may have been previously overlooked. Let's use this time to learn, grow, and reflect on how we can all contribute to a more inclusive and equitable future. #WomensHistoryMonth #DiversityAndInclusion #Empowerment #Community #executivesearch #bonnsearchpartners #womeninleadership #csuiteleaders #aapi https://lnkd.in/g22hC3xE
