Artificial intelligence is considered to be key in driving economic growth in the UK. It’s proven to be an innovative tool in business operations such as marketing and finance, but what about creativity and idea generation? I will be presenting my latest research on the use of AI in the creative process of interior design, outlining current uses, future potentials and strategies for design studios who are uncertain about this new technology and if and how to engage with it. This research has formed part of my final dissertation UCL School of Management

ex Owner, Manager of the UK’s longest running (same-owner) nightclub 1972 to 2020. Championing Hospitality and the Night-Time economy
Sadiq Khan faces questions over globe-trotting London 'night tsar' #SadiqKhan faces fresh questions over public spending after he sends £117k 'night tsar' despite London's declining party scene as 1,165 venues shut in three years Mike Kill of NTIA said: 'There is a big difference between signposting and virtue signalling and driving tangible change. We see a lot of announcements but not so many results.' Mike is absolutely right, there is no point having all these schemes, woke or not, if the very places they are designed for have all closed down. Let me tell you, from someone who has been in this business since the 70s, Nightlife has never been safer, the legislation, the laws & regulations, CCTV, licenced and trained security, WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE, and we want to be accountable to our customers, we want you to not only be safe, but feel safe. TELL THAT MESSAGE, not some story about how you represented and helped some new collective group, wonderful, everybody is welcome, but ONLY IF there is somewhere to go. So to all Nighttime Economy Advisors in the UK and around the world, you MUST start telling the most important people what we do, you MUST tell the ONLY people that matter, that's The Customer. Let them know Where we are, Let them know WE ARE OPEN, Let them know What we do That's how we #SaveNightlife, not by doing multi-training programs behind closed doors for only a select group. https://lnkd.in/eUfZsA-W

Great article in the AC press today, about the progress being made in Atlantic City as discussed in Fridays Clean and Safe meeting. Including being named in the top 25 list of convention cities, citing an increase in safety as one of the reasons why the city moved up. ATLANTIC CITY — For the first time, Atlantic City has cracked the "Top 25 list" of convention cities put out by the Convention Cities Index. "It is (in part) based on safety, statistics, crime stats," said Gary Musich, Visit Atlantic City's vice president of sales at Friday's Clean and Safe Atlantic City meeting. "It is great for us and our ability to get new events for the city." The Convention Cities Index has been compiled annually since 2020 by North star Meetings Group. "New to this year's index is Atlantic City, which replaced San Francisco, thanks to a drop in room rates and a bump in the overall safety level for travelers," said the Convention Index 2024 report. "The East Coast gaming mecca, which offers nine casino-hotels, saw average daily room rates fall 13 percent to $201 per night. Mean while, safety rose 9 percent to 75 points. Most of the other cities on the Top 25 national list are much bigger than Atlantic City. At number one is Chicago, followed by Atlanta, Dallas, Orlando and Houston. From number 21 to 24 just ahead of Atlantic City are San Antonio, Texas, Washington, D.C., St. Louis, Missouri and Miami Beach, Florida. Arrests up over last year Police Chief James Sarkos said officers are being proactive to stop large groups of people from suddenly congregating on the Boardwalk, as has happened in nearby resort cities. "We are searching social media for pop-up parties, and sending cease and desist orders," the chief said. He said an increase in staff to 328 has helped a lot. "Calls for service are increasing, as they always do in high summer season," Sarkos said. There had been 57,262 calls for service year-to-date, he said. In the last four weeks, there were 12,362 calls for service, up about 23% from the previous four weeks when calls totaled 10,042. Year-to-date there had been 2,352 arrests, up 26.1% over last year at the same time. Police had recovered 59 firearms this year, Sarkos said. "Boardwalk enforcement is in full force and effect," Sarkos said, adding that there are 45 full-time officers, six sergeants and a captain assigned to Boardwalk duty for the summer season. Another 12-14 officers are doing overtime on the Boardwalk daily, along with two sergeants, he said. Chris Downey, vice president of casino operations at Tropicana said: "We are seeing good things with the police presence out there on the Boardwalk," Downey said. "It's very visible to our clientele and our employees. The safer the Boardwalk, the better it is for all of us." REPORTER: Michelle Brunetti Post https://lnkd.in/eu4zQwV3

Ensuring Smooth Events Amidst Venue Construction or Renovations: Lessons Learned We know that navigating venue renovations or constructions is an art in itself. The recent delay in the completion of Savannah Convention Center's expansion, highlighted in a recent article, underscores the importance of diligent risk management in such scenarios. The $276 million project, initially slated for completion in May 2024, faces significant delays, disrupting not only the construction timeline but also impacting scheduled events. As a result, five events have been canceled, and one has been relocated out of state, causing substantial room night losses for the city. Delays and disruptions are inevitable in the realm of constructions or renovations, proactive risk management measures can significantly mitigate their impact. Before booking your events, have a risk assessment test completed. #RiskManagement #eventprofs #strategicmeet https://lnkd.in/espvMb4x

We would like to extend an invitation to someone on the appropriate team in Vrbo to come on The Art of Hospitality Podcast to discuss a recent stay. Listing Number: 77127395 As part of the conversation, we can select from any of the following but, the biggest question to be answered is how the consumers in our industry can know what to expect from the "Hosts" and from Vrbo specifically? Vrbo offers listings, just like this one, a 'Premier Host' identifier but what does that mean? What are the qualifiers for that identifier and what should it mean to the traveler? - arrive to water and an active leak in the basement. - plumber called and has to come to the house to resolve the leak upstairs. Leaving a hole in the wall on the main floor, and mentioning to the guests that he also removed a dead rat from the wall. - occupancy of nine. 4 towels, 4 wash clothes, no kitchen linen - broken dinning room chairs - dirty oven that was unusable and the guests had to move the breakfast they were cooking to another house so they could eat. - host is now asking if the guests know what happened to the front window while never addressing the plumbing issue These are the experiences that drive frustration for the professional managers that work hard every day to build our businesses and our industries. I think its reasonable for Vrbo to share their perspective with us and talk about how they are working to make our industry stronger.
