The National School Lunch Program feeds over 30 million children each school day. There is now an option for schools to apply for Universal Free Meals, which would provide free lunch and breakfast to all students! According to the Center for Policy Research, schools that expand free lunches to all students increase academic performance and have a positive effect on attendance. Let's celebrate the National School Lunch Program and encourage our Louisiana legislators to make school meals a reality for all students. By March 31, 2024, over 498,000 recipients – 30% of all Louisiana Medicaid enrollees – LOST ACCESS TO THEIR BENEFITS. Many were disenrolled simply for not responding to renewal requests, affecting children, seniors, and pregnant women (some of our most vulnerable neighbors) the hardest.
