Each Fall, I embark on my "Fundraising Frenzy" to support a local organization, matching donations along the way. This year, I am dedicated to Camella's Cupboard Food Pantry for Children, a local organization that focuses on providing Food for Kids. E̲v̲e̲r̲y̲ ̲s̲t̲o̲r̲y̲ ̲i̲s̲ ̲u̲n̲i̲q̲u̲e̲,̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲f̲o̲r̲ ̲k̲i̲d̲s̲ ̲f̲a̲c̲i̲n̲g̲ ̲f̲o̲o̲d̲ ̲i̲n̲s̲e̲c̲u̲r̲i̲t̲i̲e̲s̲,̲ 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁. Camella's Cupboard Food Pantry for Children is a remarkable local initiative, sending over 500 families in the area 60 lbs of fresh food, necessities, and more each week. The need is clear - kids are going hungry. Shockingly, 1 in 6 kids in CT experience food insecurity, but since 2018, Camella's Cupboard has been making a difference. It's all about the kids. What do all of these have in common? ❤️ charity: water used storytelling and a quiz to emotionally connect donors to the urgent need for clean water and the impact of water scarcity on hygiene and health. ❤️ Tunnels to Towers Foundation utilizes peer to peer outreach involving personal stories of heroism and loss from military and first responders, leading to an 88% donor retention rate. ❤️ Children's Miracle Network Hospitals provided innovative and engaging virtual events that encouraged gamers to support sick children. ❤️ Crisis Text Line's campaign shared real (anonymous) text conversations between their counselors and people in need to show their donor base the outcomes they can drive. Emotions. Deep connections to the heart. Storytelling. You don't compel someone to take a lifetime of action by talking about your organization's challenges, finances or goals. You don't compel someone to commit to being part of a long-term partnership through facts and figures.
