As a DevOps engineer, you should target to spend only 40% of your time on operational work, ie, setting up servers, fixing deployment pipelines, troubleshooting infrastructure issues, on-call, etc. 60% of your time should go into building projects, automating away the toil, setting up observability - one-time effort tasks that yield continuous benefits in the long term. (eg- Watch my video on how to monitor your Kubernetes applications -> youtu.be/XK7CJlOLuic) This is the only way to evolve and make sure you're not stuck in the same hole you were a year ago. How are you spending your time?
