2024 is the year where our first coils should go through our new CTL 10 line!! The team is really working hard on the development of our decoil line. We recently have finalized the load wearing foundation. Currently FimiGroup is working on the preparation for the anchors of the machine parts. A blown film manufacturer approached TUTCO with a unique requirement for special machined heater assemblies to be used in a specific process that did not have common off-the-shelf options. The challenge was to find heaters that could fit within a very limited space, ruling out the possibility of using cast heaters due to their space-consuming casting process. Additionally, the heaters needed to deliver high temperatures and a substantial heater output to meet the application’s demands. The last week, we Got ready to experience the 9th International Conference on Hot Sheet Metal Forming of High Performance Steel CHS2 2024. Work carried out at Bruning Tecnometal together with our partners CBMM, Eurecat - Technology Centre, Luleå University of Technology. I would like to take this opportunity to share this study regarding the hot stamping steel grade 22MnB5 steel producing a target tensile strength of 1500 MPa is standardly used for press hardened components in passenger cars. The thickness of such components is usually limited to 2 mm or less. More recently, the application of press hardened components has been also considered for components of heavy commercial vehicles requiring much thicker sheet gages. The heavier gage poses increased challenges towards the press hardening process as well as to assembly technology. Here is a way to assign multiple materials in VEX in a few lines using the Details class. By using a dictionary and 2 loops, you can assign a new type of material simply by adding the material name as the key and its type as the value. In my kitbash case, I prepare the material name by doing a double split on the material shop path to retrieve only the end part. Then I add the name to the dictionary as a key and specify the type. The 2 loops, one over all the primitives and another that lists the keys of the dictionary, compare the key with the material name in the primitive and assign the key's value (the material type) if they match. Aluminium Baseplate We have recently manufactured a new aluminium baseplate for our Aberlink Ltd Zenith CMM to help speed up the inspection process for batch manufactured components. This will allow us to inspect batches of parts "lights-out" to increase the capacity of our inspection department. We manufactured the 1500mm x 1000mm x 15mm thick baseplate with approx 2000 M6 holes in-house on our Hurco DCX22 Twin Column VMC which has a 2200mm x 1700mm table. Aerospace and Automotive cast aluminum foundries connection In this short video, we will showcase a wet blasting process that is equally applicable in all aluminum foundries (as well for titanium, SST...), regardless of the part application and for which industry it is. Very often, one can regard wet blasting as a "cleaning" process. It actually is, but with Vixen technology/process it can actually lower the surface Ra values and deburr or smooth the surface successfully!!! Due to the NDA, we cannot show actual aerospace aluminum foundry part that we finished/wet blasted for our customer. But we can show fresh cast aluminum wheel, and process of cleaning and deburring of the surface. With our new developed aluminum oxide media, coupled with the Vixen technology - we can lower Ra" on complete wheel surface for 85Ra + and leave spanking clean surface for the next operation. If your Aerospace parts need very low Ra (10Ra and below) or mirror finish, we can use our Massfin Aerospace vibratory finishing processes and help you achieve your surface finishing goals.
