Every day, our veterans and military personnel face challenges that most can't even imagine. Sadly, the struggles they endure can sometimes become overwhelming. Today, my heart aches for a fellow military member who recently lost their battle. I did not know the member directly, but I understand the struggle all too well. If you know or suspect someone is struggling or maybe just acting a bit off, call them, go to them, check on them. Be there, even if they say nothing is wrong, go have coffee, talk over a beer, play golf, turn on a video game, anything to show that person they matter, that they will be missed, and that their friends and family and coworkers need them. It's crucial that we all play a part in preventing suicide among our brave servicemembers. Reach out, lend a hand, be a friend. If you or someone you know is struggling, please don't hesitate to ask for help. Dial 988 to connect with the support you need. Press 1 for veteran-specific assistance. Remember, one life lost to suicide is one too many.
