There is Dignity in Labour! As Christians, St. Paul clearly admonished that” if any would not work, neither should he eat”. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 (KJV)” Growing up, we did loads of menial jobs ranging from tilling the ground for others for a pay to pushing of wheelbarrows in the market , serving of mason at construction sites and other legal stuffs just to make money that we are proud to spend as ours. Recently, able bodied people shy away from doing some jobs because they tag them belittling to their status, you’re not rich and yet highly selective of jobs. How can you be broke and proud? It baffles me, you can’t get your financial needs sorted by looking for giveaways online or soliciting for help from strangers. Most people are happy to assist you when they see the effort you’re making and clear plans you have in place to establish yourself. Many business tycoons of modern history has something in common… their days of humble beginnings. Take for instance, Obi Cubana who runs conglomerate of businesses under the cubana group was once selling isiewu as a small business venture. We should not always look at the big picture while ignoring the building process. We should always do whatever jobs available while awaiting for the big opportunities as the little experiences we gather along the way will prepare us for the greater things to come. This is how you KNOW 💡 Reading is so important! 📌150 years ago it was ILLEGAL for Black people to Read 📖 📌It was ILLEGAL for someone to teach a black person to read 📚 📌 To this day 80% of All children’s books feature a white character or an ambiguous character like a giraffe 🦒… 📌2 out 3 students who cannot read proficiently by the end of 4th grade will end up in jail or on welfare. 📌 70% of America’s inmates cannot read above a 4th grade level. 📌1 in 4 children in America grow up without learning how to read. 📌Students who don't read proficiently by the 3rd grade are 4 times more likely to drop out of school 🏫 . ⚠️This makes it more difficult for black & brown kids to Want to read because there aren’t enough books that showcase kids that look like them! 👉🏾 Let’s expose our kids to more books with black characters. 💰Will you order our books & share this post? GAS PRICES DIVE: Gasoline prices in Miami drove off a cliff last week, plunging 11.6 cents per gallon on average to $3.10, according to GasBuddy, which predicts possibly the lowest prices in two years by Christmas. Gas prices in Miami now are 17.8 cents lower than a month ago and 38.4 cents below a year ago. The national average price fell 6.2 cents per gallon last week to $3.27, which is down 25.9 cents from a month ago and 36.9 cents from a year ago. Eleven states are seeing average prices below $3. MORE WORKERS QUIT: Florida was the only state where job separations increased in September and one of only two states to show an increase in workers quitting their jobs, figures released this week by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics show. Higher rates of workers quitting indicates a strong labor market where jobs are plentiful. Florida job separations increased by 41,000 from August as 42,000 more people quit their jobs during the month. Across the nation the quit rate was 2.3% in September, but in Florida it was 2.9%, up from 2.4% in August. The quits rate is computed by dividing the number of quits by total employment and multiplying that figure by 100. Florida saw 281,000 persons quit in September, third in the nation behind Texas at 396,000 and California at 312,000, In contrast, Florida had 261,000 persons quit in September 2022 and 239,000 in August of this year.
