Happy Earth Day! 🌎 Earlier this month, Fera Pets, Inc. and Earth Animal funded a beach clean-up and education sessions on plastics in the community of Buenaventura, Colombia through our partnership with rePurpose Global. We set out with a goal of collecting and recovering 30,000 pounds of low-value plastic from their beaches and we’re excited to share an update on our progress towards this goal. So far, we’ve recovered 21,670 pounds of waste – but still have approximately 26,400 pounds waiting to be recovered at the materials recovery facility. When all is said and done, we will have surpassed our goal by about 18,000 pounds – a huge testament to the hard work of rePurpose Global and their volunteers! Thank you to everyone who has made this possible – we hope this Earth Day, you’re inspired to take action for a greener tomorrow. #EarthDay #ferapets #SaveThePlanet

🎉🐵 Happy World Bonobo Day! 🎉🐵 Let's celebrate these amazing primates and their crucial role in the rainforest ecosystem. But wait, there's more to the story... 🌳🌍 🔍 About Bonobos: Critically endangered primates native to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Known for their peaceful social behavior and unique conflict-resolution strategies. Vital seed dispersers, aiding in rainforest regeneration and biodiversity. 🌱 Benefits to the Ecosystem: Bonobos help maintain plant diversity by dispersing seeds through their diet. Foster social cohesion and stability within their groups and the environment. Drive eco-tourism, supporting local communities and conservation efforts. 🚨 Plastic Pollution Threat: Habitat loss and hunting are major threats, but plastic pollution exacerbates the danger. Ingesting plastic can lead to health issues and death. Microplastics in their food chain impact their health and reproduction, disrupting the ecosystem. 💪 What Can We Do? Support organizations protecting bonobos and their habitat. Reduce plastic consumption and properly dispose of plastic waste. Raise awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution to wildlife. Choose sustainable products and support plastic-conscious companies. 🌟 Let's protect these incredible primates and the rainforest they call home. Every action counts! Follow us and @PlaferaChallenge to stay informed and join the fight against plastic pollution. Together, we can make a difference! 💚🌍 #WorldBonoboDay #ProtectOurPrimates #PlaferaChallenge

Today ChangeMakersHub, and our extended family of EcoChangeMakers that have gone through our programme and in collaboration with our Impact partners are uniting in our efforts to be #plasticfree. It’s an effort to celebrate International Whale Day by taking action and repurposing plastic waste away from harming our oceans. In Atlantis today we want to see how our togetherness can make a difference in 5 hours. Did you know that 54% of all whales, dolphins and seals are impacted by plastic. NOAA estimates that 100 000 marine mammals are killed by plastic each year. World Whale Day is celebrated every year on the third Sunday in February and this year, it took place on February 18. This day seeks to appreciate these aquatic creatures that are an important part of the ecosystem. It also goes beyond that and draws attention to the man-made challenges that have erupted making marine life difficult to survive due to dumping waste in our oceans, especially plastic. We are walking the talk. There needs to be serious action taken to make the homes of whales a safe place for them to live. Please join our movement ; #startaripple by paying this message forward by sharing and liking our page, where you will find many exciting updates on how you can make a difference with us on our #EcoChangeMakers #Journeytoimpact2030 Read more facts here from the @twooceansaquarium who inspire us with their commitment to the wonders of marine life https://lnkd.in/dXpjXeTA

Lalamove Brazil Partners with Circulare to Simplify E-Waste Disposal for Nature Conservation Day Properly disposing of old electronics can be a major hassle for many consumers. That’s why for Nature Conservation Day, we have partnered with Circular Brain, a startup in Brazil that facilitates reverse logistics and recycling of electronic waste, to make the process easier and incentivise people to do their part. As part of our Deliver Care initiative, we are offering coupons to Ciculare customers in São Paulo who place responsible disposal requests for their old or damaged electronics. Users simply have to go on their website to request the reversal logistics, and they will receive a Lalamove discount code to use on their next delivery order. Together, we are enabling consumers to easily recycle their old items, ensuring the materials are reintroduced into industries and preventing further environmental damage from improper disposal. Lalamove is devoted to supporting environmental conservation efforts and this is one small step we can all take to build a more sustainable future. #LalamoveBrazil #DeliverCare #ESG #EWasteRecycling #NatureConservationDay

"Let's fish massively, and save our ecosystem." 🌊🐟 Doesn't sound quite right. How about this? "Let's fish massively for plastics as a collective community." ♻️ ♻️ In the face of a concerning trend witnessed over generations, individual efforts like those of fisherman Lefteris Arapakis are proving instrumental in restoring balance to our planet. 🌊 Arapakis, whose family has fished the waters near Athens for generations, founded Enaleia, a nonprofit dedicated to cleaning up the sea and educating fishers. ☝️ By incentivizing fishing communities to treat plastic as a catch, Arapakis has mobilized over half of Greece's large-scale fishing fleet, pulling nearly 200 tons of plastic from the Mediterranean in one year alone. 🌎 This initiative is critical as our oceans are suffocating under the weight of plastic waste. With over eight million metric tons entering the world's oceans annually, the Mediterranean has become a hotspot for plastic pollution. 💧 By fishing out plastics, Arapakis and his team are not only preserving marine life but also mitigating the threat of planet-overheating pollution, which could lead to more extreme weather, rising sea levels, and food supply disruptions. 🙏 Arapakis's success underscores the power of individual action in addressing global challenges. By empowering fishing communities to be part of the solution, he is setting an inspiring example for others to follow. 💡 As we collectively strive for a cleaner, healthier planet, let's remember that every small effort, like the fisherman's, contributes to a greater environmental impact. ✅ Together, we can reel in a brighter future for generations to come. 🌍💙 #PlasticPollution #Sustainability #CommunityAction #marvinTechAdvocate I am Mar Vin Foo 🌿, a specialized consultant in energy, both upstream and downstream with a focus on AI. Finding your purpose being Tames Jan Rietdijk. The purpose I am currently pursuing is to clean rivers from solid waste. This resonates with my name: Tames is the ancient Greek word for River Source, and Jan originates from John (the Baptist), whose signature ritual was to 'cleanse the soul by baptizing people in rivers'. I would say: I was born or named to do what I am currently doing. In the previous 5 years, River Cleanup has demonstrated the power of communities by activating them to reduce plastic leakage around rivers. In my fantastic 2 years at The Ocean Cleanup (where I found my purpose), I have learned all about the do's and don'ts of successfully deploying plastic waste interception solutions in rivers. It takes both these 2 approaches to realize a systems change and sustainably solve the problem of plastic leakage into rivers. And that's where our combined forces come together: the Clean River Model. As a Theory of Change, this approach aims to i) make rivers plastic-free as soon as possible and ii) accelerate all the system changes that make this permanent. With my more than 20 years of experience in operating trading platforms and financial crime prevention, I intend to create a platform that adds the power of market mechanisms to the power of communities, as a lever to engage new stakeholder groups to help solve the relevant and urgent problem of plastic pollution in rivers. Let's create the safest environment in and around rivers ... together!
