🚀 30 Days of Tech: Day 29 - Why Use Docker? Docker is more than a containerization tool; it transforms how we develop and deploy applications. Here’s why: 1. Consistency: Run the same setup across dev, test, and production. 2. Efficiency: Containers are lightweight, making them resource-friendly. 3. Scalability: Spin up multiple container instances easily. 4. Isolation: Each container is self-contained, perfect for microservices. 🚀 DevOps Insight: Do you know what happens when a pod gets terminated in Kubernetes 🚀 1. Graceful Shutdown: Kubernetes sends a SIGTERM signal with grace period ( default 30 sec ) to the pod’s containers to allow a smooth shutdown. 2. Termination Grace Period: In this grace period all the dependencies used by pod are released gracefully. 3. Forcefully Termination: After the grace period, Kubernetes sends a SIGKILL signal to forcefully terminate any remaining containers. 4. PreStop Hook: This hook runs before SIGTERM signal for custom clean-up tasks. 5. Pod Deletion: Kubernetes removes the pod from the cluster, release the resources used by pods.
