A recent report by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) states that improving sexual and reproductive health and rights in the workplace, not only boosts business performance, but also advances crucial sustainability goals on human rights, gender equality and employee well-being. Ultimately, this drives progress towards a just and equitable society. We are proud to have been recognised by the UNFPA in this report for our work in fostering a culture of inclusivity and empowerment through our Building Families at Ferring initiative. This highlights our commitment to creating a ‘fertility and family friendly’ workplace, that includes a minimum of 26 weeks of equal paid parental leave for both birthing and non-birthing parents. 🌍 Happy World Sexual Health Day! 🌍 This year's theme is all about Consent—a cornerstone of mutual respect in any sexual encounter. It's essential that everyone has access to accurate information to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health. Unfortunately, teenage pregnancy still robs millions of girls of their potential, with 18 million adolescent girls giving birth every year. This often ends their education and forces them into adult responsibilities far too soon. Achieving gender equality means ensuring that girls and young women can realize their right to sexual and reproductive health and have control over their lives and bodies. At Plan International Nederland, we’re working with partners globally to provide access to quality sexual health services and eliminate harmful practices like female genital mutilation (FGM) and child, early, and forced marriage. Let’s continue to support girls and young women in taking charge of the choices that shape their futures.🌟 Learn more about our work: https://lnkd.in/e3ZitGWF #worldsexualhealthday #SRHR #WSHD2024

📣 new evidence on how opposition to #SRHR is being used as a political tool in the #EU 📣 and linking to wider challenges to the #climatecrisis, and #UHC ➡ 'Governments can use opposition to gender equality to “legitimize systemic changes and democratic backsliding”, because...gender equality and reproductive rights, including access to safe and legal abortion, promote women's and LGBTQI + persons full and equal participation in labour markets and politics.' ➡ 'the opposition to SRHR becomes more than opposition to gender equality and established human rights and extends to access to health services undermining the achievement of universal health coverage' #leadershipmatters #feminist #SRHR4all #intersectionality #bodilyautonomy access the article here:

How can everybody realise their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)? By applying an intersectional approach! Intersectionality can help us recognise and understand how our differences, such as our finances, religion and gender, can shape our experiences in the world. Through better understanding we can create more inclusive policies and societal norms to ensure no one is left behind. 🌍 Exciting News in Reproductive Health! 🌟 🚺 Achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3.7.1 is crucial for ensuring women's reproductive rights are upheld. This goal focuses on providing women of reproductive age with access to modern family planning methods. 💊 Effective contraception empowers individuals to responsibly control the timing and quantity of children they desire, breaking barriers and promoting gender equality. 🕰 For time immemorial, this heavy responsibility has fallen on the shoulders of women and girls around the world, often within health and gender-inequitable local contexts. 💡 That's why I find this article intriguing! Balbach et al. (2023) are pioneering on-demand contraception pills for men, offering reversible infertility. While it is still a work in progress, this innovation promises to reshape gender dynamics and advance reproductive health equity worldwide 🤞 ✨ It is high time men shared ownership! 🙏 Special thanks to #JohnsHopkinsBloombergSchoolofPublicHealth's Global Health Now for highlighting this news. (Tip: This free newsletter is an excellent resource for anyone interested in staying updated on public/global health news.) #SDG #ReproductiveHealth #GenderEquality
