🌍 Happy World Sexual Health Day! 🌍 This year's theme is all about Consent—a cornerstone of mutual respect in any sexual encounter. It's essential that everyone has access to accurate information to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health. Unfortunately, teenage pregnancy still robs millions of girls of their potential, with 18 million adolescent girls giving birth every year. This often ends their education and forces them into adult responsibilities far too soon. Achieving gender equality means ensuring that girls and young women can realize their right to sexual and reproductive health and have control over their lives and bodies. At Plan International Nederland, we’re working with partners globally to provide access to quality sexual health services and eliminate harmful practices like female genital mutilation (FGM) and child, early, and forced marriage. This goal focuses on providing women of reproductive age with access to modern family planning methods. 💊 Effective contraception empowers individuals to responsibly control the timing and quantity of children they desire, breaking barriers and promoting gender equality. 🕰 For time immemorial, this heavy responsibility has fallen on the shoulders of women and girls around the world, often within health and gender-inequitable local contexts. 💡 That's why I find this article intriguing! Balbach et al. (2023) are pioneering on-demand contraception pills for men, offering reversible infertility.
