Westport is striving to design, build and operate Australia’s most sustainable port. The exciting opportunities and unique challenges this presents were discussed at last week's Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) 'Western Australia Connect’ event. Our Managing Director, Patrick Seares, General Manager, Cath Lyons and sustainability consultants from Perspektiv spoke how Westport is working towards net zero, resilient and nature-positive infrastructure. Discussions centred around how embedding #sustainability during early planning can improve the environmental outcomes during operations, and offer up opportunities to de-risk sustainability initiatives during the planning phase. See how Westport is working towards a net zero port and #supplychain by 2050 >> https://lnkd.in/gD6daeTk #netzero #infrastructure

📢 The first press release of the GRETA-urban-logistics project is out! The press release highlights the project's commitment to creating sustainable and efficient transportation systems that benefit urban communities and surrounding regions. It also focuses on the important results achieved at the first in-person meeting among all project partners, held last February in Bologna. GRETA project - Co-financed by the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme and led by ITL (Institute for Transport and Logistics Foundation) - is an innovative initiative focused on greening urban freight transport. The GRETA partnership (in which OPEN ENLoCC is also involved) aims to tackle these challenges by decarbonizing last-mile delivery in Functional Urban Areas (FUAs). By implementing #sustainable and #scalable solutions, GRETA project aim to reduce the number of delivery vehicles on the road, creating cleaner, quieter, and more livable cities. With our team on the ground in Barcelona, Bluefield's water experts are closely following developments in Spain's #watermarket 🇪🇸. A few notable takeaways highlighted in our latest Quarterly Review for Europe Municipal Water clients: ✔️Spain leads Europe in #wastewater reuse, making it an influential example of addressing #waterscarcity and sustainability through advanced reuse technologies. Canal de Isabel II is constructing Spain’s first #greenhydrogen plant using recycled wastewater. With an expected production rate of 400 kilograms of hydrogen per day, the project is part of a €6.03 million investment from the European Regional Development Fund and a €1.2 billion investment from PRTR funding. This initiative opens a new business model around wastewater #reuse, which already covers 18% of Canal de Isabel II’s operations. ✔️The fragmented Spanish water market offers opportunities for incumbents and new entrants, particularly those focused on digitalization and infrastructure modernization. The Spanish water market is highly fragmented, with over 8,100 municipalities served by smaller systems. Spain's push toward modernization, particularly outside its largest cities, offers promising prospects for growth and consolidation, especially in #digitalwater solutions and infrastructure upgrades. ✔️Focused on urban water cycle digitalization, Spanish #PERTE funding will benefit both public and private players. Supported by EU funds, €500 million has already been allocated across 80 projects to digitalize Spain's urban #waterinfrastructure, showcasing the opportunities in 3P collaborations—spearheaded by AGBAR (Veolia), Aqualia, Global Omnium, and ACCIONA. These projects are expected to drive demand for digital water technology providers while strengthening private utilities’ role in local municipalities.
