I'm super proud of our team: 34x growth in 20 months, 10x revenue growth in the past 10 months and profitable.
I'm grateful for Nicolas Esteves and Nicolai Eddy who I have had the privilege of building NALA with the past 4 years, they have put their life into building this company with me with countless late nights, weekends constantly trying to execute on our bold mission to build payments for the next billion!
NALA x RAFIKI#1PercentBuilt.
We're back. We're all began my hometown, Doorslam, Tanzania. Right now, Africa is home to 1.3 billion people. By 2050, this will double to over 2.5 billion, making it the world's largest global workforce. A few years ago, we set out on this journey to build payments for the next billion. With limited budgets, we focus on doing a few things well for those who believed in us. Over the past 12 months, I've had some of our greatest wins and biggest challenges. We grew our transaction volume 34 times, our global customer base from 12 to a couple 100,000, our team from 7:00 to nearly 100 and our revenue 10X. And finally, this year we became profitable and cash flow positive. But we face challenges around every corner on our journey. As we scaled, so did the issues last year we face. Average of 25 different period partner issues a month. It got to the point I'd wake up every morning and ask what payout partner is down and what are we going to tell customers. This problem that affects every payment company operating in the African continent today and will continue to do so for decades to come. Payments are broken and we can't just keep complaining about it. See in Asia we have Air Wallachs, in Latin America we have the local and now in Africa we have Rafiki. We built Rafiki not by choice but out of necessity. It's time to set the bar for global payments. Today, I'm excited to announce we have raised $40 million to accelerate our global ambitions, taking our consumer business beyond Africa to build for the global migrant diaspora and building Rafiki to lay the payment rails for the next billion. I'd like to thank our customers for their feedback, patience and support. I'd like to thank the Nala and Rafiki teams and finally our Mobile Money Bank partners, regulators and investors for their continuous support. Our work isn't over, We're just getting started. It's time to get back to building payments for the next billion. Let's go.
