"Success doesn't come with your hands in your pockets." Yusuf Dikeç from Turkey stood out in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event. Unlike his competitors, he competed without any special gear, just with his hand in his pocket. He won silver at the Olympics, showing his natural talent. Yusuf has kept the same mindset for 13 years, winning the World Cup series in 2011 (1st place) and now at the Paris Olympics 2024 (2nd place). The takeaway? Experience and simplicity often lead to success. It's not about the tools you have, but the skill and confidence you bring. What do you think? #Paris2024Olympics #YusufDikeç #Paris2024

“The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part; the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well.” - Pierre de Coubertin Let's get inspired by the thousands of athletes in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. Re-Imagining Boundaries: Lessons from the Olympics With the Paris Olympics in full swing, it’s the perfect time to draw inspiration from sporting pioneers who re-imagined their sport. Daring to challenge conventional wisdom and set traditions, they redefined boundaries and blazed a trail of new heights. My favorite Olympic example is Dick Fosbury. An American high jumper who passed away last year, Fosbury is considered one of the most influential athletes in the history of track and field. He revolutionized the high jump event with a radical ‘back-first’ technique that became known as the ‘Fosbury flop’. Fosbury introduced his new technique to widespread skepticism at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, but soon captivated the world by winning the gold medal and setting a new world record. His innovative approach soon became universally adopted as the new standard for the sport. With such inspiration, ponder this as you watch the Paris games: What could be the next Fosbury Flop innovation in your industry? And how could you be the one to introduce it? My idea for an UNcorrect Olympics I've seen the opening ceremony for the Paris 2024 Olympics and I have to admit I'm impressed. I loved the dancers, the epic music (Supernature by Cerrone), the hot air balloon and -without any cynicism- the performance of Celine Dion is beautiful in many ways. But if I could think of ideas, I would do it differently. Here's an Olympic event that I would watch from the beginning to the end. At the opening ceremony, there would be music from Rammstein ("Ein Mensch Brennt") during which a stuntman will be set on fire with the Olympic torch and with a spectacular trapeze stunt will jump into the cauldron. The following sports will be added to the UNcorrect Olympics: * Bare-knuckle fighting. This will add a new dimension of raw violence. A sport that gains popularity worldwide, featuring fighters like Mark Godbeer and Mighty Moe. Even Conor McGregor considers participating in this sport. * Darts. This will add more inclusion to the sport by giving more attention to the working class. Besides, it will be excellent for the beer sales revenue. * Coppers Hill Cheese Rolling and Wake. This is a traditional competition from a village near England, where participants have to run down a 180-meter-long hill, chasing a wheel of Double Gloucester cheese. The first person that goes over the finish line wins - no matter if they roll, stumble or are still on their feet. * Ear Pull. A traditional Inuit sport in which a loop of string is bound behind the ear and the objective is to pull the opponents ear until the cord comes free or the opponent quits from the pain. What do you think? Maybe if some of these ideas will be used in the LA Summer Olympics in 2028, it will add quite a lot of excitement to the world of sports. #paris2024 #paris #creativity #sportsmarketing

0.005 seconds….. This razor-thin margin between victory and defeat is a powerful reminder of how minimal differences can lead to monumental outcomes. In the thrilling climax of the 2024 Paris Olympics, American sprinter Noah Lyles won the gold in the 100 meters, narrowly beating Jamaican Kishane Thompson by just 0.005 seconds. Competition drives athletes to push their limits, and the difference between standing on the podium and falling short can be measured in fractions of a second. This isn't just about speed—it's about every tiny improvement, every bit of effort, and every strategic decision made along the way. It’s about thinking big, being all in, and giving everything you’ve got. For Noah Lyles, it was the culmination of intense preparation, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. It’s a testament to how marginal gains, often overlooked, can define the boundaries between winning and not winning. 1. Noah Lyles (USA) - 9.784 2. Kishane Thompson (JAM) - 9.789 3. Fred Kerley (USA) - 9.81 4. Akani Simbine (RSA) - 9.82 Whether in sports, business, or life, the smallest details can make the biggest difference from being 1st or coming in last. #OlympicGames #paris2024

Great message about performance in the share below. There is a difference between wanting something and needing it. There are helathy and unhealthy elements to needing something. It is great to set out sights on goals and to want to achieve them. But it is not great if we absolutey need to achieve that thing weset our sights on, and for our own mental health to be dependant on it. Unhealthy needs are those that place uncessary pressure on achieving a goal, when if you fail, the consequences to your attitide when assessing your performance become unbearable. Rather drive yourself to reach for the stars, but enjoy the execution, and don't want it so much that you no longer can act effectively in the face of the pressure. High performers are able to step up a gear when the pressure is on, by navigating those pressure situations more effectively. It can be improved with practice, but most importantly, that happens when the enjoyment outweighs the pressure. Let there be self-love, self appreciation no matter the result And failure is not failure, it is an opportunity to reflect on what could be done differently next time. That for me is the definition of resilience... Thanks for sharing Gregory Bayne #resilience #grit #success #mentalhealth #selflove #learnfromfailure #embrace success #highperformance #

Beyond the Podium: The True Essence of Athletic Motivation Recent research challenges our perception of Olympic medals. While bronze medalists often appear happier than silver, the story goes deeper. A comprehensive study reveals that winning is just one piece of the motivational puzzle for athletes. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀? ✅ The sheer joy of physical exertion, the thrill of social bonds, and, surprisingly, a strong family orientation. ➡️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀. So, next time you watch sports, remember: It's not just about the medal. It's about the holistic fulfillment of fundamental human desires. This perspective might change how we view 'success' in athletics and beyond. #IntrinsicMotivation #AthleticPsychology #ReframingSuccess"

Research on Olympic athletes suggests an interesting phenomenon: bronze medalists often report being happier than silver medalists. While silver medalists tend to dwell on narrowly missing gold, bronze medalists are more often thrilled to have earned a place on the podium. What a great example of re-framing!

Yesterday, the 200-meter men's final at the Paris 2024 Olympics took place, and there has been a lot of talk about one of the athletes, Noah Lyles. Lyles is a very successful sprinter, having won three world championships and a bronze medal at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. He also won a gold medal in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games. In 2023, he made history by winning three sprint events at the World Championships, a feat not achieved since Usain Bolt did it in 2015. (Source: Wikipedia) Noah Lyles comes across as a confident and driven individual. He truly believes in himself and his abilities, which motivates him to strive for excellence every day. However, some people see him as too proud and full of himself. This raises the question: Where does self-confidence end and arrogance begin? In a documentary called "Sprint" on Netflix, you can see behind-the-scenes moments with Lyles and other track runners. From his interactions, you can tell that Lyles exudes confidence and determination, influences that stem from his background and the support of people like his mom, who motivates him despite his asthma. Before the final race, Lyles was poised and prepared, fully confident in his ability to win. However, Letsile Tebogo emerged as the victor, leaving Lyles with a third-place finish. Now, the question remains: How do we differentiate between self-confidence, pride, arrogance, and boastfulness? Note: Many people are critical of Lyles, labelling him as prideful and boastful.
