💫 Workshop Virtual and Augmented Reality Applications in Cleanroom - ISCC2024. Andrea Daviddi, CDE manager and R&D Specialist together with Daniele Pellegrini, IT & VR specialist, at Techniconsult Group, delivered “hands-on” demonstration on Virtual and Augmented Reality applications in cleanrooms during the courses organized by the Politecnico di Milano in partnership with ASCCA - ASSOCIAZIONE STUDIO E CONTROLLO CONTAMINAZIONE AMBIENTALE and ICCCS at the Bovisa Campus on October 18th-19th. Durante il mio percorso di studi ho avuto modo di interfacciarmi con la Virtual Reality e le sue possibilità in ambito medico. Poiché associata con una migliore acquisizione delle informazioni, comparata con la convenzionale lettura dei testi, la VR trova sempre più applicazioni quali: l’educazione di studenti e tirocinanti, la riabilitazione cardiaca, i disordini muscolo-scheletrici, gli interventi chirurgici, la riduzione di dolore ed ansia e il miglioramento dell’equilibrio in pazienti post-stroke. Uno degli esempi più impressionanti è la possibilità di simulare interventi chirurgici per vagliare diversi approcci e trovare il migliore, nonché studiare casi nel dettaglio, associando alla VR l'imaging tramite RM o TAC. Mi auguro che questa tecnologia possa diventare parte della nostra vita e offrire la possibilità di avanzare ulteriormente verso nuove prospettive e, letteralmente, nuovi mondi.

🚀 UHasselt's latest advancements in Extended Reality (XR) are setting new standards on interaction with digital content. By blending the real world with digital elements, our project partner is enhancing experiences across media, entertainment, education, healthcare, and manufacturing. One major challenge in XR is achieving precise spatial tracking over large areas, and the new global XR tracking system, built on the MAX-R framework, addresses this by combining locally accurate spatial anchors with an external, drift-corrected tracking method. This ensures perfect alignment of digital content with the real world, enhancing user comfort and mobility. The system has been successfully tested in cultural performances with CREW, also one of our partners, creating a seamless blend of art and technology. Additionally, applications in utility infrastructure maintenance, helping operators visualize electrical cables accurately are being explored.
