It showcases compelling new data that demonstrates the enormous regenerative capacity of cattle in Adaptive Multi-Paddock (AMP) systems. 👩🌾 👨💼 🦋 Every person who works in food, farming or land use policy should stop what they're doing right now, and make time to watch Roots So Deep. There's a risk that we can slip into the habit of talking about climate change as something that will affect us in 50 years' time, but the winter and spring of 2023-2024 brought home just how much changing weather can affect farmer incomes, physical workload and mental stress. In this two-part series in Irish Farmers Journal I took a closer look at how climate change is affecting the day-to-day of farming in Ireland. Thanks to Professor @Conor Murphy from Maynooth University and Dr Damien Barrett from Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for some great insights on the Agricultural Science Association webinar that prompted the series. The first part focuses on changing weather, while part two focuses on changing patterns of animal disease.

On Monday 13 January 2025, a successful inclusive and interactive stakeholder workshop involving farmer, water industry, water regulators, government, rivers trusts, rural business, rural support agencies, county council and local resident representatives was held to present and discuss the latest research on phosphorus and water quality in the Wye catchment conducted by Lancaster University under the EU-funded New Harmonica project. The workshop provided an opportunity to hear stakeholder concerns and gather their feedback on a range of potential solutions to the on-going problem of phosphorus pollution in the River Wye and including farmer views on the potential impacts of climate change on their farming businesses. The insights gained from the workshop will be fed into the work programme of New Harmonica.
